EDIT: According to this, the dude in the meme is not the actual shooter. I haven't seen any legit sources one way or another. It's just a meme, please leave this guy alone.
Or get him in touch with Hawk T'ua Girl. Either way, he deserves it.
It's been pointed in several places already, but: That's not the guy. The one in the surveillance camera footage had a jacket without these high front pockets.
Those two pictures don't match. The lower guy is much thinner, and probably taller, than the upper guy.
And... we have no proof either of them are the shooter.
Spoiler alert, it could be a masked woman who did it. What proof it was a man?
His nose doesn't look the same to me. The smiling one has a thinner nose with an uptick and the end. The other one looks wider and has a button nose at the end. I'm no expert though. I'm just looking at two photos.
I think these are two pictures of the guy that it isn't. From a coffee shop or hostel or something. It's just a shitty camera at an awkward angle takes pictures of a guy (actor Timothée Chamalet) with and without his backpack on.
Skin protection. Check out the Hong Kong protestors’ methods. They optimized against crowd control. You can neutralize teargas with heavy gloves and a sealable container with water in it IIRC.
I've had a black neck gaiter for years and a black hoodie for years and I have worn them in my neighborhood for years.
I wore them the other day and waved at a neighbor that drove by and they slammed on their brakes and then sped off. I guess they took my Xmas cheer as a threat. Anyways they had an off duty cop standing in front of their house last night.
Funny thing is, anyone willing to do an extremely targeted killing like this, and get away for so long, must be at least moderately intelligent. If they spent the time being able to figure out when and where he would be most vulnerable, who's to say they didn't spend a similar amount of time learning makeup techniques to cover their true skin tone, or stuffing gauze into their cheeks to change their facial structure, or small tubes in their nose to widen it out, or glue-on eyelashes and color contacts, or putting a rock in their shoe to change their gate (especially good in this case for establishing a false motive and sending the cops in the wrong direction), or learning how to sew and making that jacket out of a trench coat that successfully converts back to a trench at the pull of a string, or making a realistic silicone mask with embedded ultra-bright infrared LEDs that blind cameras (especially night vision) from being able to get an accurate picture.... With a little work, you can find step-by-step instructionals, or entire communities, for all of that.
For all we know, the real killer might be a one-legged dwarf from Zimbabwe with incredible stagecraft skills.
Don't forget to stick duct tape to the bottom of your shoes for a disposable and easy to replace way of hiding your tread prints if working in a muddy or sandy area
I think there's a healthy dose of remembering all the times it's been reported how police have railroaded innocent people for the sake of a conviction and closing the case, mixed with seeing this person as a modern-day Robin Hood and not wanting him to be identified. The dude could have been wearing a Beetlejuice suit with a face like Sloth from the Goonies and people would still say "that's not him" because he put on a tiny pink cowboy hat.
This man will be an American folk hero in time. And if that thought seems disgusting, I'll invite you to read up on American history.
Please, leave the subject alone too. 90% or Lemmy is about the shooting. The world is bigger then an asshole getting shot.
Someone got shot. Ok, sure, it happens, it's the US, who gives a shit anymore, the country is fucked up, it's healthcare system always has been, we fucking know already.
It's fine to have a news article and some funny memes, but hundreds of memes is a bit overkill I'd say. I've seen many memes about his clothes already, so even that isn't original anymore. Lemmy really is a mono culture, it's a bit sad rly. It mainly focuses on the stupidity of the US, which is funny, I know, but a bit more variety wouldn't mind. It gets old rly fast.
Tbf if you or had a family member constantly denied life savings for chemo/antibiotics/insulin it’s probably a valid feels and ima let America have the front page on this one. Empathy. Go get some.
As soon as a Healthcare system is put in place, people en masse voted to have it removed. Instead of voting for a stronger social system so poor and sick will have support instead of being thrown out on the streets and kept poor, people vote for a president ensuring the extremity rich get even more rich and the poor even more poor. I do feel for the people who are the victim of this all, and I know many didn't vote for this. But also many did. It's a country where people love to dig their own grave, and even vote to have their shovel taken away so they will have to continue to dig by hand. Although many didn't want this, the entire population voted democratically (although the voting system is corrupt too) to keep the rich and the corruption in power. Now with RFK as a health minister, like that's going in the right direction. To the unfortunate people who voted against but we're the minority, I would love to invite you here in Europe. We do have social safety nets and although they aren't perfect, at least they exist and you won't be charged 20k for an ambulance drive you have to wait for, for 5 hours due to a lack of them. Here it's 5 to max 10min and insured.
Then something else. Someone kills a CEO with a gun. The fact anyone can have military grade weapons is one of the reasons people get injured and killed, so they need insurance. It's one of the biggest source of major issues, like school shootings for example. Now the CEO gets killed. Violence is never the answer, it only makes everything worse I nthe end. This CEO will be replaced by another one, with a better security detail. The fact that Americans always use violence is so extremity dumb and is why am extremity dangerous former fuck up will be president AGAIN next month. Because of hate and the idea violence is the answer. When you think murdering someone is justified, you're no better then the asshole getting shot. There's a justice system for a reason, you shouldn't act as your own judge and executioner. (ok to be fair, the US justice system is corrupt AF).
So I so have sympathy for the the victims who didn't vote for this. I do not for the people who did.
I am getting so annoyed a CEO being shot in the US creates this mono hyper focus on it, as if there's nothing else in the world, while at the same time there's a genocide happening (funded by the US by the way) among other major world issues and conflicts making the world tension roughly the same level as the 1930's. But many Americans voted to increase support for Israel, so fuck them. There's the usual doom scrolling on many social media platforms. But as soon as something happens in the US, the entire focus of everything and everyone is on it. I hate it, if I want to see it I'll watch Idiocracy or something but I'm done with all the stupidity, hate and violence in that fucked up country.
But this parka has a hood, while the "person of interest" is wearing a jacket and a hoodie. At least that's my first thought, seeing how the hood's colour doesn't match that of the jacket.
Amazing how something in the news happens and people suddenly have never seen extremely common fashion choices before.
I have pretty much this exact coat, except it’s in blue, not tan. The hood is made out of cotton instead of the heavier denim/canvas the coat is made from.
I’ve owned several coats exactly like it over the years, I think all of mine were made by Levi, but I’m sure plenty of other manufacturers make similar styled jackets as the contrasting fabrics look nice and a thinner hood is more flattering.
Look at his collar in the photos, there’s no shadow or layer where the hood would go under the jacket like it would were he wearing a hoodie under a jacket.
