Harris defends CHIPS Act after House Speaker Johnson suggests GOP would try to repeal law
Donald Trump regularly attacks Vice President Kamala Harris and President Biden for the CHIPS Act.
"That chip deal is so bad,” Trump said. “We put up billions of dollars for rich companies to come in and borrow the money and build chip companies here, and they’re not going to give us the good companies anyway.”
What does that even mean? 🤦♀️
Total word salad.
I don't care where the companies are. I care where the chips are. And now, more of them are in North America.
Yeah from a US perspective this is one industry that is directly tied to economic and militarisitic domination. You must have fabs to be a real global power.
Seems like another way Trump wants to kneecap the US.

Without any context it almost sounds like he was hoping to nationalize a chip company. Knowing Trump, he means that only the "bad" chip companies (i.e., he can't name them so they don't matter) were incentivized by the act to build in America.
He probably thinks it's potato chips and not computer chips. He can't imagine it would cost so much to produce potato chips.
Maybe he went to a chip factory and had a few legitimate complaints?

It means “it was popular and/or successful but not my idea so it’s bad”.
