When I was somewhere in the late single digits to 11 years old I loved it. The idea of an overly complicated city wide scavenger hunt that had you solving riddles was just plain exciting. Rooting for the underdog? My new hobby. The whole thing was a very fun fantasy and everybody seemed so cool.
I watched it with a buddy a few years ago and "meh" about describes it. This is coming from someone who still genuinely laughs and dick and fart jokes =/.
It was however pretty easy to enjoy and make fun of some. I could not get over dudes plastic hat either, I want one.
A couple of coworkers a few years older than me convinced me to watch it and I thought it was meh as well. I did like learning that Eddie Deezen was already playing a megadork before he voiced Mandark on Dexter’s Lab, among others.
I'm kind of intrigued by a movie that features David Naughton, Michael J. Fox, Maggie Roswell and Dirk Blocker as peers. That's an ... eclectic lineup for sure!
I watched this so many times growing up. It was an HBO staple in the 80s. I can still quote lines from it. Haven't seen it since. Probably doesn't hold up but I intend to watch it again anyway.
