I thought it'd be useful for people who are only subscribed to /c/piracy from another instance to become aware of the communities local to this one

Found out I was missing out on a lot and that communities in all to subscribe to don't show up until someone from your instance searches them out
So here's some that have interested me.

Good call!
Did my part and searched them on my home instance and subbed to a few of them.
To the folks who are trying to do the same on their home instances, you can actually just paste the URL directly into the search field (eg. https://lemmy.dbzer0.com/c/switchpiracy) instead of doing the !switchpiracy@lemmy.dbzer0.com syntax.
When you click search it may return no results or just a post or two, but just wait for about 10 seconds or so you'll see the community pop up. Like so.

8 0 ReplyThings still aren't quite synced here on kbin so a lot of these are 404ing. Pulling them up in search seems to help. trying to subscribe to help trigger sync lol :)
4 0 Replyif you’re the first person on your instance to search for them, you’ll need to search the entire url, or search like
!roms@lemmy.dbzer0.com
for your instance to initially discover them. After that they should show up as normal4 0 ReplyAnything for Kodi Addons, yet? The reddit sub has gone dark.

I wonder why they don't show up on search. I can't get to them from your links
2 0 ReplyFor my instance I had to go to search and then copy paste in the urls for communities nobody from my instance had ever joined to get them to show up.
So for example I copy pasted in https://lemmy.dbzer0.com/c/div0 and searched all
Then after a while typing in div0 in the communities search for all made it appear.

Thank you! Finding new communities has been…challenging. Finding new communities is like mining and finally clearing away enough dirt to go “Aha! There you are!”
1 0 ReplyYeah, and there's so many similar communities that they all end up with little activity. I hope there's some way to group them together some day.

Thanks. I have now subscribed to a few from kbin. I look forward to sharing my ai art images all over the place if nothing else!
