Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko claims no other team would've handed Daniel Ricciardo another chance in Formula 1 amid criticism over how his RB exit was handled.
On the one hand Ricciardo's washed, he's been washed since at least his time at McLaren, and it was long past time for him to move on from F1.
On the other hand, RB as an organization and Marko in particular routinely handle the failings of drivers other than Max in ways that seem calculated to maximize humiliation. It's honestly reminiscent of the golden child/scapegoat dynamic that often happens in households dominated by a narcissist parent, and it's one of the reasons why I've always suspected that Red Bull has a particularly toxic team culture.
Criticism isn't about the concept(RIC needed to go, and so does Perez while we are on the topic) but the horrible execution(how the press and rumour mill during his last few race were) of the concept.
RIC while not performing at VCARB , was one of the most beloved driver on the grid. He should have been given a proper farewell and chance to go out, like he would have wanted and fans to get a chance to say good bye.
Instead of saying a decision will be made in Singapore, just say it will be RIC's last race and let him go out, to some degree on his own terms.
That's on the press, not RB imo. And with a global calender, what is a proper goodbye? You drive in F1 you accept the circus. They are all well paid these days
