Feeling muted and wibbly and bleah... working up the courage/timing to commit to only one job and say goodbye to the other. Ugh I cannot please everyone.
One bit of extremely good news that I'm looking forward to more than anything else is the return of a familiar guest (after more than a year!) this weekend for about ten days... stay tuned ๐บ
eyy coworker please try to throw me under the bus with a mass CC public shaming. I love that shit. Especially when I have documented evidence that this is your fuckup.
Its in the slowcooker. I compromised on my original vision and took some advice but not all. Its got the veggie soup (but blended so the chunks dont go mushy), beef stock and passata. Will give it a taste towards the end and see if the mushroom soup is still a good idea (gives me a chance to back out if its not working rather than commit early on to something I'm not sure about). Will saute the mushrooms and add towards the end and add then.
Its probably gonna have more a curry style gravy consistency but thats actually ideal.
All this stew and food talk got me hankering for something spicy.
Going to make a korean stew with beef tonight. Made one last week with pork and it was okay (the pork was the worst part). Gonna try it on noodles instead of rice as well.
Iโm pissed offโฆ years ago I had inherited a little tv with a built in dvd player. Shortly after Melbcatโs asthma got bad, and I put it and a few other things temporarily out on my veranda to make space to vacuum thoroughly. (Needed the floor clear and didnโt want to knock anything over.)
I involuntarily fell asleep in exhaustion, forgot to take it back in and it was gone.
Now thatโs kind of on me for not grabbing it back in asap, maybe they thought that it was being given away - but in this neighbourhood I wouldnโt be surprised if they didnโt care.
Definitely one of my regrets now that YouTube is getting cracked down on and this external drive is giving me trouble.
I donโt want a large tv. I donโt want the smart tv shit that spies on you and requires internet connection. That little thing was the perfect size and picked up radio too.
I also had a portable dvd player way back when those were current but that was blatantly stolen out of my room by a flatmate. I think the bastard stole my discman too, and my ceramic space heater.
It's gonna be a boozy Monday coz the man has finished the project and he has tomorrow off. I got one hours notice to get everything ready. The mic is now on charge. Atleast it will take my mind off this relentless fucking hayfever.
My digestive system is being such a fucking arsehole and keeps shutting down. So much pain, so much effort trying to prevent it turning into a really bad outcome. Part of it has been diagnosed but tests for other things are still being waited on.
I swear if I ever become able to eat properly again Iโm going to eat joyously, become huge, and crush anybody who comments. Food is a blessing.
I had beef stew for dinner tonight. I made a batch a couple of days ago to bottle, one jar didn't seal (which is the one I ate tonight) and there are 5 more jars for later. Served with mashed potato and cauliflower & broccoli in cheese sauce.
Finally booked in an assessment to get the wisdoms out. I have an initial consultation + targetted x-ray in a couple of weeks, then they'll figure out whether it's going to be a complex removal or fairly straightforward, and since my preference is full general anaesthetic, work out all of that fun stuff.
This clinic is expensive, but their staff seem actually friendly. The dentist I go to for general stuff is low cost, but that comes at the expense of friendliness and general clinic maintenance. The whole building looks dingey, they can't seem to afford to fix their lightbulbs, and everybody that works there seems like they're constantly having the worst day ever and often take it out on whoever dares make an appointment. Considering how expensive dentists are, it's good that they exist, but super depressing that they're in such a state of shambles. That's the state of the healthcare system, I guess
I don't know how rude mowing at 7am on a Monday morning (in school holidays) is, but today it's my house doing the mowing.
Don't blame me, they sent some drongo gardener around who apparently has a key to my gates I guess, and he was banging on my door at 7:10 while I was in the shower. Needless to say, he was ignored
NB: they call themselves gardeners, but they really aren't. The department hires lawn mowers for all the properties, including ours. They do an awful job and never take their clippings with them (or even put it in the compost bin, like we'd asked multiple times). They basically just come to mow the lawns poorly and then spray poison on anything that looks green. Not a hyperbole. So far, they've sprayed a capsicum tree, a watermelon seedling, a patch of strawberries, and a zucchini bush. They were all in the garden beds, with only a few weeds in there (nowhere near anything that was growing).
first taste is... not great. And thats without the mushroom soup. the tomato and beef stock arnt really complementing each other. will see how it tastes closer to the finish time. Worst case (and I stress, this is the worst case) i can just drain the sauce and serve it with the mushroom soup.
Dumb questions, but I got a bunch of gravy beef from aldi. I was thinking about chucking it in the slowcooker with a couple of cans of vegtable stew and a couple of cans of cream of mushroom. then probs some actual mushrooms and water. Reckon this would work taste wise?
Normally when I do gravy beef I cut a bunch of the fat off, is that the right approach? Or do i just leave everything on?
Melbcat is cuddling and I donโt want to get up. I wish I was strong enough to put her in a baby sling so we could keep cuddling while I folded or did dishes (sheโs a big lady and Iโm a small enby)
