PS Vita game Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana. This is early into the game when you find your first castaway. Adol stumbled on her bathing in the stream.
I personally always loved the Vita graphics and the feel of the handheld, so I prefer this version of the game.
I think I’ve gotten more than a little tired of the “guy walks in on girl bathing” trope in anime.
Like, somehow this is a world where no one knocks, and the first thing girls do in an unfamiliar environment is get a bath.
Haha. This is pretty much the only JRPG series I like, so interesting to learn this is a common trope.
The older Ys games have I would suggest much mote troubling easter eggs. Perhaps I'll share those screenshots too.
Does the Vita have native screenshots, or is it a homebrew app? You said the feel so I assume it isn't emulation. Not even sure how far that as come
All of that aside, I enjoy the daily screenshots from you guys. I encourage you to keep the streak going as long as you are still enjoying it
It has native screenshot functions, yes, but they are highly compressed. Iirc, there's a tool for taking uncompressed screenshots, but given the watermark in the screenshot, it's most likely the native function.
To exemplify the watermark, here's a screenshot I took of a FFX blitzball game some years back (metadata says it was back in 2016).
It's not emulated. This is from recent gameplay on my still working 2012 original Vita. You press the PS and Start button at the same time on Vita to take a screenshot.
Yes I always loved the graphics on most Vita games. I also play this same game on Steam, but the Vita version has a charm that can't be beat.
I also used to feel the same way about Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker. The original PSP graphics on an actual PSP screen were in my opinion better than the HD remake.
Awesome, thanks for all the info. I was trying to own and play a game for every letter of the alphabet, and that is how I stumbled across the Ys series personally. I didn't end up playing a whole lot, but that was because of life, not a lack of enjoyment. Eventually I'd love to get a Vita. Been wanting one for a while

I played it on the Switch and it's one of my favourite RPGs on the system.
This is a ridiculously good good with insane amounts to do, character development, and story. It's wild to me how much the original game had and wasn't DLC or a separate game.
I really like the Switch version, but I really got into the series playing this and Memories of Celceta. I kinda wish I still had the Vita, as I'm pretty sure it's the only system with every game from 1-8 on it.
I think you're right. PSP has 1 & 2 chronicles, Felghana (3), Napishtim (6), and Seven was PSP originally. Though Im unsure how many of those were available digitally so that you could get them on Vita.
Then this game (8) and Celceta (4) were on Vita, as well as a rerelease of Origin on Vita.
Game 5 to date has never been released outside Japan, so 1-8, minus 5 are all theoretically possible on Vita.
It's all on Steam nowadays too and I also play those on Steam Deck.
