Thousands of people overran Union Square Park and surrounded lanes of traffic Friday as a popular Twitch streamer held a video game giveaway.

This explains the helicopters I hear, I'm not that far away. Idk, says the crowds dispersed an hour ago, so we'll see.
- Yeah, I don't even live in the state and I picked up on it due to my scanner app alerting me to a sudden influx of listeners in the area. It's a great way to hear about events before they get reported on.

I never would have imagined that a Twitch streamer could cause this much chaos. Those crowds are huge.
