Vaquer has left CMLL, and has been stripped of the CMLL World Women's, and World Women's Tag titles. A new world champ will be determined this Saturday between Lluvia, Viva Van, and Willow Nightingale.

Edit:

Fightful Select: Sources claim to @FightfulSelect that Stephanie Vaquer is WWE and NXT bound and was backstage at NXT Heatwave

  • Wow. That's... abrupt. Hope everything is OK with her.

    • Least according to some on Reddit, it seems harshly worded but its business as usual for CMLL. No word yet but people are thinking this is the precursor to a "Vaquer has signed with AEW/WWE" post, and people seem to be leaning WWE cause if it was AEW then why drop the title like this instead of just doing it in a match? But...you'd think it'd be AEW before WWE given the work history, but I guess we'll see?

      • Even if she signed with WWE, usually they allow wrestlers to finish up their current commitments before bringing them in. Either way, there seems to be more to the story.

  • Oh wow, that feels quick. Wish her all the success. She was great on Forbidden Door.

  • Fightful Select:

Stephanie Vaquer is the Belle of the Ball.

Vaquer has elected to remove herself from the rosters of CMLL and NJPW citing personal reasons, and as a result, has been stripped of the CMLL World and Tag Team Titles, per the official CMLL account. Last week, it was revealed that she had interest from both AEW and WWE, despite having a CMLL contract.

Fightful Select can confirm that Vaquer has had talks with both AEW and WWE, and both companies have maintained interest. As things stand, we've confirmed that she's not signed with AEW, or closing in on a deal there, though there was interest conveyed. We're told WWE showed interest after Forbidden Door. Sources within AEW who were at the show last week believed she was likely headed to WWE.

CMLL has allowed talent out of their deals when they've had big US offers.

RÉCORD is reporting specifically that she'll be on her way to WWE.

    • I feel Lluvia is gonna take it as she's Vaquer's partner but I'd love to see either Viva or Willow get it.

  • ngl but wwe is really a scummy company if they did it in the way they did without giving notice to drop titles

    • WON: Stephanie Vaquer Receive Heat from CMLL and NJPW for Unfulfilled Obligations

“When she had told them (CMLL), they basically asked her and said you know ‘we won’t stand in your way or anything like that, if you want to go you can go, but just do business the right way’. She’s got the tag titles in CMLL, she’s got the CMLL singles title, and it was basically go to San Jose, where she’s been advertised for months and drop the title there, drop the tag title, we’ll do a farewell. And the feeling was, that they expected that of her and basically told her ‘look they want you (WWE) and they may not want you to do that, but you haven’t signed yet so you can just tell them, I want to go out the right way’. Then on Monday when she signed, she told them that Tuesday, which was last night in Guadalajara (July 9) was her last night, and she wouldn’t be coming to Arena Mexico on Friday, she wouldn’t do any of the dates – she’s got dates all over the world. The idea was to come to San Jose and drop the title and she didn’t do that. CMLL was very upset over her, you know because of what happened, and also they had never been targeted in this way by WWE.

“New Japan was very upset because when they first announced the show in San Jose she was in the first batch of people announced, and they have been advertised for months. It’s kind of like their basic thing is ‘you’ve been advertised for months for this show, in a championship match and then five days before the show you pull out, and you’re the champion’. AEW wasn’t happy because they did want her and they made an offer to her, but she went with WWE. That’s the place she wanted to go, but how it happened was not well received.”

      Update since then.
