A timid beetle(?)
A timid beetle(?)
What's its name? I've seen some before, but rarely. Once every few years or so. Thanks
Edit: the likeliest candidate is an Old House Borer without antennae.

Johnny.
The lack of antennae is confusing.
Also, while searching, didn't realize fireflies were beetles.

And yeah, fireflies are weird. Beautiful, but weird.

I bet when that was a larvae it spent it's time gnawing through some dead wood;)
4 0 ReplyThere is a lot of dead wood in the immediate area.
Edit: so it seems to be a Old House Borer, but it lacks the antennae.
3 0 ReplyIt's that another name for Aegosoma scabricorne?

Anyway, it seems to be an Old House Borer, but lacking its antennae.
