For those experienced in this topic, how would I go about getting a bikelane near my neighborhood?

I live really near a downtown area and it's feasible to bike there. Problem is, there are no bike lanes. While I can 100% just ride on the road, a bike line would help a lot and most likely encourage others to ride on the road too.

How would I go about getting a bike lane? Even just a shitty painted lane.

Try reaching out to your locally elected representative?
- Works best if you are part of some sort of organised advocacy group. So either try to join one or try founding one if there isn't a local one already. Fair warning though: It's a lot of work.
