Folks, I need a little bit of your help. We started this little Lemmy instance without thinking much about it - lol.
So my question to you folks, what information are you missing. As I have noticed, our rules are a bit too hidden on this page. I will try to include them in the sidebar. Currently they are on our Legal page.
Is there any other information you need?
Small hint: Even if it's very cyberpunk'ish here, you are of course allowed to create communities or share posts that have nothing to do with cyberpunk :)

To be honest I originally wasn't sure what exactly was allowed here. Most of the posts seemed to be about Cyberpunk TPRG/2077 (which I don't mind! I loved 2077 and spent a long time waiting for it after the 2013 trailer..) and I wasn't quite sure if it was meant to be general Cyberpunk or games. I guess that's the slight downside of the game sharing the name with a genre. I was originally thinking about starting a VA-11 Hall-A community here since it's a Cyberpunk game that I love too, but I ended up putting on another instance instead. Sounds dumb but with it being a small community here I felt like I would have been "intruding" too. I have made an account here now though at least, dunno if I'll use it as my "main" one yet.
Sorry that turned into a kind of ramble, I tend to that sometimes, to actually answer your question, I think other than the rules things as you mentioned (until you said they were in legal I had no idea where they were..), it's mostly alright as is I think. I'm still getting my head around the fediverse a bit though. You all seem pretty nice at least!
I have to admit, at first glance it's not really clear if it's a cyberpunk-only community or not, I'll adjust that a bit.
The origin of the Lemmy instance comes from our CORTEX IMPLANT community which is cyberpunk-themed (all kinds of cyberpunk - also friends of technology).
But feel free to create communities here, almost any kind (as long as they follow the rules - our rules are very simple, it shouldn't be anything that offends others) :)

I've been taking the time to look at that (and nightcity.bar) to get a bit more of a feel of the place, and I like what I see. I'm still not fully grasped with the fediverse yet, but we'll get there in the end.

Is it okay if I'm not into cyberpunk that much? I just love the theme you set up and the general vibe of the instance. I'm mostly a lurker anyway so I would use the instance to view local posts and subscriptions elsewhere. Maybe I'll end up getting into cyberpunk like most people here :) I did enjoy VA-11 Hall-A
I think everything cyberpunk is completely welcome and encouraged here, not just the games. But also, as Revengeday said, it doesn't have to be cyberpunk at all^^
Welcome to DATATERM, I saw a little bit about VA-11-Hall-A floating around lemmy, I think it was from you. Whatever you can share I'd love to see it! I think it will take time because this place is very new but I get that hesitant feeling too. I've followed the community so I can learn more about the game.
The fediverse can be a bit mind bending at first and it comes with it's own quirks that's for sure.
Thanks for taking a moment to share your thoughts with us!

Yea was most likely me on my other instance account. Didn't see anyone else mention it anywhere so I thought I might as well even if doesn't go anywhere!

I think I'm slowly getting around it, just looking at other fediverse sites on the side. nightcity.bar looked interesting at least. Not fully sure the difference between Calckey and Mastodon. Calckey looks like it has more features from what I can tell whilst still having the same-ish feel. Also being able to post from there to here seems neat, which I think I've seen a few people do here.

Well, it's not that the game is sharing the name with the genre, it's that the games created the genre. It's like Roguelikes are all based on the game Rogue.
Maybe a Guide or FAQ section for people who use federated communities for the first time.
This could include things such as how to subscribe to communities outside of Dataterm.
Also I keep reading that I can connect cortex implant, nightcity bar and dataterm, how would I do this and only have one account for all 3?
A guide sounds good, I'll put it on my to-do list! "Somehow" I have not quite figured it out yet, it is possible even without DATATERM account to still use our Lemmy instance, I'll look again how that works :D What works is to enter the URL of posts e.g. at our Mastodon or Misskey instance into the search to reply to posts.
I kinda find lemmy a little ugly :D
Can I contribute to the styling or create a theme that is super cyberpunk? If I did, could we talk about it having it on this instance?
I would love it, as long as it doesn't embrace the "chromatic aberration" look of colors that split in my glasses... I don't need any more knots in my skull-sponge. I really need new eyes.
I'd like to know a little more about the instance and/or admin team ethos - I'm guessing from the cyberpunk angle that anti-censorship and free speech is important to you(/us!) but where do you draw the line? Are we likely to find ourselves unfederated away from anything in particular? or is the onus on the user to block what they dont want to see? I guess this question is just as much legal and practical as it is moral or ethical - under which jurisdiction/laws is the server running? Does it have room to grow or are you keen to keep it smaller and more manageable?
I'm stoked to find fellow high-tech low-lives to explore all of this with, and I suspect we'll all have to feel this out as we go along, given the current speed of lemmy growth, but all the above worth an ask even if there's no immediate or easy answers! :)
The team consists of LGBTQIA+ friendly people, we want to offer a safe community for all who are a little cyberpunky - that can be nerds, geeks, programmers, gamers, creative people, all who swim a little beyond the mainstream.
Hey there @neurocyde@dataterm.digital , it's a very exicitng time and we're sharing this excitement with you! It's so great to find more high-tech low-life people to hang with!
In addition to what Revengeday has said, regarding your question of which jurisdiction, we ask that folks atleast stick within the laws of Germany at the very least. We're an international community though so you might want to be wary of your own local laws too.
We've gotten along with people from other federated communities in the past and in the present, we hope this will continue with the idea of mutual respect in mind! If you see anything that you think is against the rules or bothers you because you think it might be breaking the rules, just send a report over to us.
The biggest unofficial rule is have fun and explore!
(And if you find something cool, share it with the rest of us!)
Are we likely to find ourselves unfederated away from anything in particular?
I think this is the largest uncertainty with the federation in general. You don't want to end up on a locked out instance, or an instance that does not federate the content you want. As Ramses posted, Beehaw already defederated lemmy.world and sh.itjust.works.
It's not a problem this community can solve on its own however.
Perhaps a disclaimer would be sufficient, even if it is just "we will defederate communities that do XYZ".
We're not gonna defederate just because we kinda don't like another community's theme.
Our goal as admins is to protect our users, so if another instance makes no effort whatsoever to follow our rules (read them here: https://obeythesystem.com/community-rules/, tl;dr: "don't be a dick") or has a spam problem, that's when we'll consider defederating.
They (beehaw) were having issues with gore/porn trolls posting replies to legitimate comments. Regardless of your stance on free speech, I think everyone can agree that trolling is an issue.
You can't exactly open Lemmy at work during a quick break if you're expecting that stuff to show up in the middle of a productive discussion.
