TIL The geometric foundational work for Einstein's general theory of relativity in 1915 was laid by Georg Friedrich Bernhard Riemann some 60 years earlier

No clue how true it was, but there's a bit of a joke in physics that Einstein was really bad at the maths of general relativity. His incredible insight was that gravity is geometric, rather than the actual mathematical framework.
