Russia Strikes SBU Building in Dnipro

- Russian missiles targeted the eastern city of Dnipro late on Friday, striking a residential building as well as a building belonging to the Security Service of Ukraine, known as the SBU. BBC News (LR: 3 CP: 5)
- City mayor Borys Filatov said it was the third time that the SBU building was targeted in recent months, adding that both it and the tower block were both largely empty, namely as construction of the latter had just been completed and units only recently started to be sold. BBC News (LR: 3 CP: 5)
- Nonetheless, local officials said at least nine civilians, including two children, were injured in the attack. BBC News (LR: 3 CP: 5)
- It comes after Vasyl Malyuk, head of the SBU, said on Wednesday that his agency was responsible for the 2022 attack on the Russian-made Kerch Bridge that connects Russia to Crimea, the peninsula annexed by Russia in 2014. US News & World Report
- Malyuk had made the comments in a television interview in which he unveiled a commemorative postage stamp marking wartime special forces operations. "There were many different operations, special operations," Malyuk said. "We'll be able to speak about some of them publicly and aloud after the victory, we will not talk at all about others." US News & World Report
- Malyuk said the October attack on the Kerch Bridge — which blew up as a truck packed with explosives crossed the bridge — was "one of our actions." He made no mention of the most recent attack on the bridge, which took place earlier this month. US News & World Report
