I can currently choose between other paid services or systems that circumvent any gratification for the artists.

Not every Youtube channel has a Patreon, and even then I'd have to pledge every single one that does which would ruin me.

The end of YouTube would not be a terrible outcome. Instead of a worldwide monopoly on DIY video, new and perhaps less evil options would have a chance.
