42 current national emergencies. One has been in existence since 1979 (sanctions against Iran), and both of Bush's emergencies declared after September 11 are still active (one which gives the president the authority to control state national guard).I couldn’t find the reference on the wiki. I thought the president is able to nationalize the national guard by law.
