News / Switch 2: Updates regarding the Nintendo Switch successor

Didn't expect this news today!

The sequel to the Nintendo Switch, dubbed as the #Switch2, was officially confirmed by Furukawa today. It will be officially announced sometime between now and March 31st 2025 (I'm betting on it being announced in October).

A Nintendo Direct has also been announced for next month, but nothing relating to Switch 2 will be announced there.

Not sure what this means for Animal Crossing yet, new games seem to release roughly 2 years into a consoles cycle (Wild World about 1-1.5yrs, LGTTC 2yrs, New Leaf 1.5-2.25yrs, New Horizons 3yrs), so at the latest, I would expect the next Animal Crossing game to potentially release for 2027.
