Thought youse might like a little laugh. This is my iron. It's about 25 years old. It still looks brand new. It's like a kid's toy. It's the size of a tissue box. My mum bought it when I moved out of home. Her words were "You may need it one day". Today is that day.
Extra bonus comment: "Having escaped the lion's den, Mr Lehrmann made the mistake of coming back for his hat."
Such a great way to put it. That criminal trial was not going his way. When he escaped with a mistrial, he really should have faded into obscurity. But noooooooooo, he willingly went back for more. Idiot.
To think, 5 years ago, he harbored the idea of going into politics.
On Saturday morning we woke up to the news my FIL had a mini stroke the night before. My husband got a pretty nasty text from his sister which he was about to retaliate to until I reminded him that she just buried her FIL three days ago. Then we have stabbings and shit going on overseas, protests here and I still had to hem pants for my daughter for school tomorrow. Although nothing really directly affected me I'm like "enough already". Hence the reason Comfortably Numb popped into my head last night.
Update: Just got good news that my FIL is being discharged from hospital in the next couple of hours.
Controversial opinion, but I think the tv coverage of the Bondi incident has been too saturated. The exact same images and story over and over again without anything new to report. Yes, itโs a terrible tragedy. But wow the media latches on and just wonโt let go until itโs absolutely drained every last drop of blood out of it.
I'm high as shit on meds (I was under GA and now on Oxyvodone?) . Procedure went well. TMI but I'm high as shit: pain in the ass (pilonidal cyst) is literally gone! Yay โจ
@Baku can someone pls tag Baku as he followed up on my previous post
Kid is doing a lot better, but still woke up screaming bloody murder at 4am. This was after it took nearly 3.5 hours to get him down in the first place. My stomach feels a bit "meh" so i decided to forgo the coffee. Struggle street is real today.
I haven't told anyone in my life (outside of work) that I have a small medical procedure today. I haven't told my parents because I don't want them to unnecessarily stress out and they're enjoying a holiday in Spain. It's an annoying cyst that needs draining. Hope it goes well.
I now need to fast until surgery ๐ฉ ate 2 โจ_kwossants_ โจ and a protein shake. Might get some orange juice later as I can have clear liquids until 2 hours before.
It's been a helluva day after a busy week - 4 loads of laundry, wrangling more car inspection logistics, dealing with more family drama, figuring out work things...
Luckily I was granted my first wfh day tomorrow so I don't need to worry about getting to work and organising lunch on top of it all. Slotted in a car inspection that feels very promising. Please cross your fingers for me that this is the one, it ticks all the boxes. I really need something before next week...
Inspection on Thursday, so I have many chores to do before then.
My apartment is the physical manifestation of depression and untreated ADHD. I've written a list for each room and general cleaning, and will start from the back and move to the front.
Pray for me.
Edit: my big fat heavy Dyson vacuum has cracked. Wtfโฝ
Bathroom and kitchen sinks cleaned, toilet done. Vacc'd the study and hallway. Wiped windows, benches, fridge and walls.
Tomorrow I will tackle the bedroom and living rooms and hopefully my LL won't realise I'm an actual piece of shit.
Also, can anyone confirm that lack of airflow causes mold? I found some on the fridge and windows and wonder if my lack of flyscreen is to blame? (As in I am hesitant to open doors/windows due to bugs because I don't have flyscreen at all). Weighing up whether it is worth grabbing those temp ones from Bunnings or not...
Freakin love the home affairs youtube ad talking about setting up Multifactor auth. I mean, Bro I'm in talks right now with Microsoft regarding best practices of conditional access MFA and the depreciation of per user MFA policies, so you might've wasted the budget on me. But its good to see someone OTHER than the banks starting to push this shit.
We've gotta get past this "I'm old. I dont GET computers" attitudes, cause if that's your take you better get off the internet and go back to a pen and paper as you're doing exactly what attackers want you to do: Bury your head in the sand under the guise of "its all too hard".
There is a random black cat wandering around my back yard and is currently sitting on top of my shed. I had a brief moment of fear until I confirmed Miss Meow is still safely curled up in her basket snoozing.
If I go into the office today it will be just me ... But I have pakidge due to be delivered there tomorrow. Should I WFH and risk it being early? It is currently at melb airport so I reckon it has one more stop before the truck.
Carpet moths and nests have been sprayed with cleaning solution (because bug spray is exxy and unsafe for the cat, this cleaning solution is meant to be safe though) and they seem to be carking it. I hate myself for not realising sooner - depression is a hell of an illness ๐
Edit: also located small handheld vacc so I can clean the exhaust fans in the bathroom.
Hmmm. On the tram. Lady on aisle seat sitting with crossed legs. Person 1 went across awkwardly. Person 2 just walks through, sorta like kicking her leg and then turns back to her with an annoyed face. Lady has now crossed legs again. Fascinating stuff really.
While the closing of psychiatric hospitals and putting people out there in the community was well meaning, I do think they went too far with it. Some folks are a danger to themselves and others and honestly probably need to be in an institution.
I'm going to give you a URL which might ruin any plans you had for the whole day if you're anything like me: udio.com
I've been making ridiculous songs and it's in-fucking-credible how good it is. Get to know the tags you can use if you use the Custom function rather than letting it just generate its own lyrics and verses etc.
Have fun. Listen to some of the staff picks to hear what sort of things are possible. The first one I heard which blew me away was "Wow.... I Didn't Know That"
If I create anything to that calibre I'll let you know.
I'm very very glad that this sudden and weird internet outage happened this close to five. Shitty that I'm WFH when it happened though.
Anyone else's network gone down? I'm with exetel in the northern suburbs on a HFC network.
EDIT: Welp, clearly something's wrong, given I called the support number 35 ago. Was supposed to have a haircut this arvo, but guess that's not happening until the weekend
The FOI dude provided me with their logic on not releasing AV locations. The crux of their argument boils down to "ambulance stations have less staff than police stations and store medication, and rather than calling 000, people may go to an ambulance station instead"
On the one hand that sounds sorta reasonable, but A. Some locations are listed publicly already, B. Ambulance stations are usually marked as ambulance stations and usually have... You guessed it.. ambulances in the vicinity. Also NSW ambulance locations are public, and I take it other states would be too
Griselda, from the people who brought you Narcos and Narcos Mexico.
The first series, Narcos, was from the viewpoint of the two DEA officers who hunted down Escobar. ( I read the book, these true life guys are national heroes in Colombia ) Narcos Mexico was from the point of view of the guy who created the Mexican cartel system, third series view point of local police trying to save forgotten victims and Griselda is the view point of a drug lord.
I really recommend these stories, they are violent tho. 4.5 hobbits
The Vault. It was boring. Made me really appreciate the story telling of Uncharted, which this movie unashamedly stole from. 1 hobbit
Nobody Knows I'm Here. The lead character, I just didn't care. 1 hobbit
When it comes to freedom of information requests, can I still lodge one if I only know what information I want, without knowing if a document containing that specific information exists?
For reasons, I'd like to get a list of the current Ambulance Victoria branches. I'm not entirely sure they'd have one document that neatly outlines each branch they have, so I don't really know if I can go to the ombudsman to request that, if it would involve them digging through other files and collating my requested information into one single file
Ordinarily I'd just ask their FOI office, but unfortunately their FOI office isn't very nice. They've been asked publicly at least twice, and completely ignored both FOIs, and when I emailed to ask for guidance they told me such information can not be released to the public and that's just the way it is, that's why I'll probably go to the big buddy
Yes I know it's weird but..
I don't see why an FOI request wouldn't cover this. The CFA and VicPol both have public pages listing all active stations. And you can pull all the ambo stations from VicEmergency (there's little station icons on there), that's just inconvenient and time consuming, and they're a public agency and FOIs exist for a reason and I'm stubborn
