Honestly I wouldn't even say the bots are that much harder, just harder to learn. The bugs are pretty straightforward comparatively I think.
The tactics of fighting bots are more complex and nuanced, and not as apparent as "shoot the closest chitterer" which works against bugs for pretty far.
Once you have a grasp of the enemies, the bots actually become more manageable than bugs, because when you learn to handle drop ships, you can reduce the amount of enemies a lot better than by anything you can do against bug breaches.
Also no Stalkers/Hunters that can throw a wrench into a well prepared methodical gameplan.
