Thanks for posting this. Question: why shouldn’t I as an American vote for Cornel West? He’s saying all the things I want. Why does my choice have to be milquetoast or fascism?
- in fact, taking the milquetoast route is what leads to fascism taking over. Anyone who tells you differently needs to read some history books.

I stopped watching The Rational National. He is another one of those fake liberal channels that agrees with a lot of progressive ideals, but then shuffles you into vote Blue NO Matter Who neo-liberal choice everytime. Don't waste your time. He is a shill.
- I used to feel like this too, but I genuinely no longer believe that "Voting Blue No Matter Who" automatically makes someone a shill or a fake progressive.
  
  Then you are part of the problem.
- No channel is perfect. Although his views regarding electoral politics may not be to one's taste, the content he covers is topical, he provides a left of mainstream perspective, the production value is good, and he is a generally well-performing commentator. This type of content can be valuable to people just starting their political awakening or who, along along with the large majority of others including me and you (as you noted that you had been but stopped watching the channel), did not and could not have arrived at the current perspectives we hold without journey to it. It can also be valuable to those that did or do not have exposure to political content from anti-capitalist content in general. Shifting the paramenters of political discourse requires exposure, not purity tests. I agree with @utopianrevolt@lemmy.world in that we needn't toss the baby out with the bathwater.
