This is why I am a proud anti-theist. Religion destroys existing culture. It is a mind-virus that seeks to eradicate that which makes us human.
Destroy and replace, to turn our brains into running simulations of the chosen deity.
Essentially, religions try to turn their members into components of The Matrix

Maybe so, but in this case the terminology happens to be entirely accurate.
