If you want to wield a a massive amount of global political and military power, it's pretty important.
right but you know most people are not even close to that so its really mostly football for them.
Externally it is a powerful position, but can the president do much inside the US itself?

So, what other powers does a president have? Us Obama as an example if Trump is distasteful.
OK. Emergency powers are pretty strong but the rest are largely external to the US.
For one, the president has the power to veto any legislation passed by Congress.

Commander in chief of the most powerful military in world history and the largest and most productive economy is, in fact, pretty important. I don't really understand what point you're making, if any
