VW will launch the autonomous ID. Buzz AD in 2026. With that, it's hoping to overtake Tesla in the driverless taxi race. Other competitors are also getting involved in this billion-dollar market.

All they need to do to beat tesla is not drive thorough walls painted with roads so it ought to be pretty easy (although you know what else beats robotaxis and we've already had for ages? a bus. or even better a subway)
