I already read this story yesterday. The title here is wrong in two ways:
- He used the women's restroom after trying the men's and finding there were no stalls, only urinals. The motivation was not the law, but necessity.
- South Carolina doesn't even have one of those shitty laws (yet)
A men's bathroom without stalls? How is this even a thing? Where are they supposed to poop in that establishment?
I was at a bar once that the men's room on the upper floor only had urinals. If you wanted to shit or piss in some privacy, you had to go to the bathroom on the lower floor.
Regarding (1), he also got verbal permission from the bartender before entering the women's restroom
