Model Y is produced in Berlin, Model 3 comes from China. While Models S/X are produced in the US, they are not volume models and slapping tariffs on them would just inspire more buyers to pick the better-quality German/Chinese models. Soo... What you're suggesting is picking a fight with China to make Model 3 more expensive?

This is an example of what happened to Harley Davidson. I think the same rules would be applied in Teslas case.
The issue here was that they relocated their production (to Thailand) in order to circumvent tariffs. This wouldn't apply to Model Y since it already is being produced here.
Is "circumvent" the right word to use here? Isn't it the intended outcome of tariffs that imports shift out of tariffed countries?
That's the intended outcome when your goal is to hurt a foreign market, but not when your goal is to strengthen your local market.
