The best description I've seen of hotel art is what happens when you go to the store and say "One Art, please"
You have to appeal to everyone and no one.
They should just get realist landscape paintings. You can't go wrong and they're all actual art.

We got an apartment with deep pile carpets and a couple of paintings from Sears.
