As I recall it was a calculated response to Iran's first direct attack on Israel.
That was after Israeli attacks.

Something was always after something. But escalations... Like direct attacks...
Edit: I don't personally understand exactly what the point of this is, other than to deny Israel any right to self defense. This in no way backs up your assertions. Also, "attacks on others" is nonsensical to me considering Hamas objectively, and factually, started this war on Oct 7.
Yes self defense is when invading neighbors, assassinating negotiators and comiting genocide.
