Now that you have settled here on Lemmy. What is your impression of it?

To me it feels like a matured Reddit. (At least most of the time šŸ™ƒ)

  • Maybe itā€™s because thereā€™s less comments, but itā€™s felt needlessly hostile. Even a small disagreement leads to this weird ā€˜well youā€™re obviously a fucking idiot that has nothing worthwhile to sayā€™. I didnā€™t have that impression when I joined post API BS, but now that Iā€™ve noticed it itā€™s hard to ignore. A lot of people just reading what they want to read, and drawing conclusions that donā€™t relate to the immediate action.

    • Thatā€™s unfortunate, because itā€™s the opposite of my experience. Maybe I just donā€™t care, and/or Iā€™ve gotten better at spotting the warning signs of trivial bullshit and then ignoring it.

The trolls feel like insecure outsiders who havenā€™t matured enough to ā€œgetā€ Lemmy. Itā€™s like they know they arenā€™t taken seriously, and want the imaginary clout they had on Reddit.

      • I get that, and I do my best not to feed the trolls, but it feels like theyā€™ve been growing since I first joined. But just because I ignore it doesnā€™t mean I donā€™t notice it.

        • Iā€™ve seen more sealioning than simple trolling. Sometimes, I canā€™t resist replying, because Iā€™m not sure if theyā€™re genuinely seeing things differently, or just because their games annoy me.
