I once saw a documentary about oil drillers becoming astronauts, so this checks out.
Look, you can't expect astronauts to learn the intricate job of oil drilling, but the other way around? Piece of cake!
I mean, realistically they are in quarantine leading up to the launch. Don't want to scrub the launch because your astronaut is sick or injured.
