Kiddo, the reason we have a housing crisis is because of restrictive zoning and other barriers to redevelopment or new construction. Very much not "capitalism."

There are developments and developments of new housing that are empty. Maybe in good ol'murica, with your stupid racist zoning laws you have different issues. In Europe, the new developments are scooped up by resale/rent companies before the architect touches a mouse. And they can afford to keep them empty, at high price, because the ridiculous margins that they charge other tenants. Some of the developments are bought out as investments, because "line goes up". Capitalism all the way.
