At my school no one took shits because if you did anyone else in the bathroom would laugh and call you out by name if they could figure out who was in the stall "HAHA he's taking a shit in there!" I was so self concious about it until senior year when I stopped caring about it
Yup and my wife is constantly complaining that my son and I won't poop in public. It's a childhood trauma that nobody wants to recognize and prevent. Men's bathrooms should by code be floor to ceiling and private, especially in schools.
I mean, – on the one hand – that presumes parents are encouraging their little ones to rush strangers going to the bathroom (and that toddlers wouldn't take the opportunity to put their hands on the floor if the stall walls just were low enough) but, also, it's a very unserious comment.
Maybe it's a lack of a ventilation system why the doors have gaps? I am from Europe where the gaps are not as excessive as in the US, still they exist and the trauma is real.
