I remember when the internet was enough us-centric (or accurately localized) so “United States of America” was at the top of the list. Now I have to scroll way to the bottom. I guess I can’t argue about the fairness of it, but it’s still annoying.
With all the annoyances of everything needing to be thousands of JavaScript modules instead of a simple html page, can’t we get something useful out of it, like a localized country list where everyone gets theirs on top?
And then being from England being constantly guessing because I have no idea whether the drop down is going to list England, United Kingdom, Great Britain, or what.
Each of which refer to actually different geographical regions, but okay.
The country is called the United Kingdom, the island is called Great Britain, the group of islands including Ireland (the island) and Great Britain is called the British Isles, and England is one of the constituent countries of the UK
To make it even more confusing, some languages, like Polish, call the United Kingdom the equivalent of "Great Britain"
Wait until you find out that you can type the first letter and it will jump to that position in the list. Then - check this shit out - you can keep pressing that letter to jump through each item in the list. It takes me like 3 seconds.
Now, hold onto your hats, because you won't believe what you can do when picking your state...
