I had a fake credit card account opened for me by Wells Fargo. It caused me to accidentally transfer money to the wrong account (from savings to the credit card), so I tried moving the -$10 from the credit card to my checking account, and then I was charged a cash advance fee, and then an overdraft fee. The class action settlement money didn't even cover one of the fees 🙃
My last credit union charged me an inactivity fee. Listen, my fault, but lets not pretend its a different breed. Its a less influential breed, and usually more financially beneficial to us poors.
To be clear for us here in the US yea credit union greater than bank. But you still need to be aware and watch fees and shop around.

Ironically, that's why I'm at a bank and not a credit union. The CU I was at a decade ago was awful and charged fees for stupid shit. I found a student checking account at another bank that was free (and I still have the student checking years after being out of school lol), and eventually gave me a credit card that has given me thousands in cash back while I haven't paid more than $10 in interest in like 7 or 8 years.
I really feel like if the general public applied Finnish bartending practices more frequently, the number of business willing to do, or existing after doing this kind of shit, would rapidly diminish.
If you're scared of a .world ban just go to a different instance ffs. This isn't reddit where you are locked down to one set of rules. You can pick which ones you want.
