I'm more interested what motivated the voters. I have a hunch that most of the US still isn't ready for a woman president. From a practical standpoint, the US stock market had a banner day. It will be important to benefit where possible over the next 4 years. OTOH, my son lives in France. Maybe it's time to move :)
Good question. I have a hunch about what didn't motivate voters, and that's an out of touch democratic party establishment addicted to corporate campaign donor cash.
Its fucked up. I kinda expected it but still. And anyone wondering how it affects these minorities should read sms's messages this morning. It's really fucked and I'm glad the trumpian guy isn't over here even if he's in disford
It's so fucked up. I expected it, but still had hope for a surge in women voters or a silent moderate conservative vote or something (I know, naive). What really hurts is that not only did he get elected, but it looks like he might have gotten even the popular vote this time around.
I read SMS's messages earlier today and you're right. But I also worry about the international impact. I have good friends in Palestine and a few Ukrainian colleagues, and I'm so worried about how the next four years might do irreparable harm to them and their families.
I'm not shocked, but severely disappointed.
Right now seems to be the best time to support each other in Europe, as transatlantic relationships will come with a climate of uncertainty and stubbornness.
My thoughts go out to the millions of Americans who are part of some minority group... Uncertain and dark times, sadly. 😞
