  • Do you think Caliban Prime will increase his usage rate?

I'm looking through the old 2023 stats page, and I see Caliban is extremely unpopular. Part of this is definitely availability, since he's gated behind a bounty farm after New War. But how much is it availability?

I get the sense that Caliban is a cult frame, split between people (especially YouTubers) who think he sucks and a minority that appreciates how wide his support toolkit is.

Will Caliban Prime give the sus space man some new appreciation, or will the stink stay on him forever?

  • The issue of bugs/glitches and people not caring or accepting they're a thing.

This is a widespread problem that applies to almost any game, something I've noticed for years but never as much as I have with Warframe. Players have bugs, glitches or other issues and they make posts, comments etc. about it but all they get as answers is "nah, that never happened for me so there is no chance it's a thing" or "you just suck, git gud."

I've never felt so dismissed before, or seen so many others get dismissed in this way. People just decide that it's because they're new players, they're doing something wrong or whatever else, anything but the chance that there's an actual issue. I've now spent 3 days trying to do bounties on orb vallis and cambion drift with very few finished ones. I understand what to do and have no issues with difficulty, they just fail for no valid reason. Examples:

On orb vallis with the tax the taxmen bounty, when you need to capture and defend containers it just fails to register that you're close to a container so nothing happens and enemies endlessly spawn until you fail. I've spend over 10 minutes standing right by a container with no effect.

On cambion drift with the last stage of the brute force bounty, the Grineer just instantly win while having like 25% while you're at 60%.

Both of these issues and everything else I've has issues with have been posted about by many others through the years yet not once have I seen an actual answer that helps them or takes their problems seriously.

As with anyone else, there have been things I or others have simply not understood for a bit, but absolutely everything is being treated like that. I've seen posts from people that just stopped playing warframe or other games because they never got any help or even a clear answer other than that it's their own fault.

I've noticed this trend and thought about it for years and have been wanting to write an actual article about it, it's a real issue and often even the devs themselves go along with the denial and dismissal. This is especially prevalent with hard games like the souls-like genre. Any issue or feedback about actual bad balancing is dismissed because it's so easy to just decide it's someone who's not good enough or is failing to understand something.

  • Some random topaz shard blast testing

I'm sure we all remember when Topaz shards were utterly overpowered only to be nerfed so hard as to be all but abandoned outside secondary crit chance. Since then DE have said they follow the same rules Calibans lethal progeny ability, this howerver is incorrect and Topaz shards appear to be even more limited. They in fact seem to obey the following 2 rules.

    • Overshields cannot be generated.
    • Shields cannot be generated during ANY kind of recharge delay.

The second point is important because any recharge delay includes the brief one every time you'r hit, even if you still have shields and haven't shield gated. The result is that Topaz shards cannot generate any shields while under fire.

This in my opinion is likely an oversight as it renders them utterly useless since their only potential utility is when you're not in combat yet still able to kill enemies with a blast, a situation not only incredibly rare but also one where shields regenerate on their own anyway.

  • Weekly Warframe: Gauss

Fastest land-based frame, master of kinetic energy - Gauss!

    Release date: 2019-08-29

Passive: Gauss has access to a special battery meter filled up by running that gives him buffs depending on fill rate and affects some of his abilities. Mach Rush - Burst into a hyper-sprint bowling over enemies and charging the battery. Crashing into solid objects generates a powerful shockwave. Hold to rush continuously. Kinetic Plating - Generate armor plating that converts a portion of absorbed Kinetic Damage into Energy. Also protects Gauss from being staggered or knocked down. Damage Resistance is relative to the battery level. Thermal Sunder - Siphon kinetic energy from the area, charging the battery and inflicting Cold Status on nearby enemies. Hold reverses the process, draining the battery and inflicting Heat Status on nearby enemies. Redline - Push Gauss' battery beyond the redline, supercharging his Abilities and setting Fire Rate, Attack Speed, Reload Speed, and Holster Rate into overdrive. When past the redline, bolts of arcing electricity dance periodically from Gauss, exploding en masse when the ability is deactivated.

Acquisition: Main blueprint can be purchased from the Market. Component blueprints drop from Tier C Disruption on Kappa, Sedna.

  • Jade: A warframe review

So before I start here's my build for reference:

Review So overall I think Jade is a cool concept, having a 'biblically accurate' angel warframe is a nice change from another speedster frame or whatever cali...something is meant to be. I know some people find the whole, well if you played the quest you know; thing a bit uncomfortable but in retrospect its a pretty masterful move by DE because a biblically accurate angel should be unsettling. Onto the review:

    • Lights Judgement: This is a pretty great ability, it effectively acts like blood altar but without requiring an enemy and with extra synergy with other parts of her kit. It does suffer a bit from the same issue as Trinitys 'well of life' in that despite being an objectively good ability its a bit overshadowed by the rest of her kit.

    • Symphony of Mercy: This is basically a 3rd aura, and honestly outright unbalanced compared to other support frames but it is fun. I like to use the strength buff before casting my 4 for the free boost and then maintain damage to buff my own glory weapon, occasionally switching to the shield buff to quickly recharge if I'm taking a lot of damage. Its worth noting that this scales with affinity range so it can benefit from PoE consumables and the Vazarin focus school. I also suspect the % shield regen could make for an interesting tanking method when combined with primed redirection but I haven't tried that yet.

    • Ophanim Eyes: Another strong one and Jades subsume the defense strip is not only good but also stacks addatively with corrosive projection allowing you to speed up armor strip by about a second. The ability also has slow but most enemies die before it can make a difference (The abilities own damage is not worth mentioning). On Jade only this can also revive allies but it really doesn't come up much.

    • Glory on High: Mandatory if you want to look like an awesome angel instead of a pile of wet towels this ability is also fortunately pretty damn strong. The drain isn't crazy and the weapon is also strong in its own right, 30-50% damage reduction is also icing on the cake; combined with aerodynamic and aviator you can hit abnout 75% damage reduction in this state.

Glory: Once again here's my build for reference:

Easily one of the stronger exalted weapons right now being somewhere beteen dex pixia and peace makers in terms of raw damage output while being easier to use than both. It can handily take down level 200 steel path grineer without any armor strip, and with range and sufficient enemy density it can maintain her 2 forever all by itself, particularly in steel path. It can also synergize with her 1 for a massive room nuke but honestly thats overkill.

If you want more single target damage simply swap fulmination for pistol elementalist to roughly double its damage output.

Conclusion Overall Jade is a really strong frame who's fun to use with a kit where every ability has its place and feels worth using... yet its feels vaguely dissapointing. Despite being good it doesn't really feel like Jades kit. Particularly with her 2 and 4 it feels more like DE took all the things they should have done to rework, Hildryn, Equinox and Titania and combined them all together to make a new frame instead.

Overall I'm happy with jade but I think I would have been happier if Hildryn had a 4 that felt this good, if Equinox wasn't saddled with awkward limitations and uncapped energy drains, and if Titania (while still strong) just had a little more usability and synergy in her kit.

  • Stupid question about tenno gen items

So I've begun the downward spiral into fashionframe after accidentally opening the cosmetic menu. Terrible jokes aside I have had my eye on some tenno gen items and I see that their not shared crossplatform. I do occasionally play on my switch (such as my lunch break at work) and my phone (usually just claiming extractors and foundry stuff when I'm out and about) but I primarily play on PC.

But my question is: if I buy a tenno gen item on PC and equip it, then play on my switch, would the item be unequipped when I return to my pc or will it just not be equipped on my switch and then be equipped on PC? Hopefully my ramblings make sense.

Then if I am absolutely in love with a tenno gen cosmetic and am insane enough to buy it twice- are purchases between mobile and switch shared because all my plat is unavailable on my switch but is there on mobile

  • Open World Resource Farming

    Whelp...

I finally got off my butt to start working through zaws, kitguns, companions and any other modulars I've been avoiding. Part of my avoidance is due to the fact the modulars need a lot of open world materials and I'm not a big fan of the open world areas of the game. I spent the last few days putting together and play testing a loadout that has allowed me to make farming the open worlds for resources far less painful.

Before I get into the specifics...

The below is what I've found to

    • be low thought / low spoon / dont need to think hard to be effective
    • be efficient overall
      • probably not meta but definitely 'fast enough', especially with resource boosters
    • be easy to use with controller, switch, steam link, etc
      • you do not need a pc or mouse+keyboard or 'real display' to use the below effectively
      • I have capital T Thoughts about controller accessibility and the below keeps controller concerns in mind
      • I tested the below with steam link, my folding phone and bluetooth joycons to ensure things arent too painful
    • be generally useful across fishing, mining and conservation
    • allow for working through the open worlds in 'loops', farming 'a bit of everything'
    • allow targeted farming if you need or want to focus your efforts on specific resources
    • allow for non-open world builds to co-exist with these builds
      • I tried very hard to avoid making the below ultra specific when it comes to forma and similar
      • I have the below gear setup with separate loadouts for both open world needs and general game needs

    General Notes

    • this is not meant to replace any 'meta': this is meant to be efficient overall, take the pain out of farming open world areas of the game, be useful no matter the platform or input method or display while keeping your sanity if not fond of open world areas of the game
    • the below is pretty expensive in terms of forma and endo... dont panic: you do NOT need to max everything. this setup is meant to be very flexible and allow players to adjust if desired and/or necessary. I tested this with non-maxed gear. it was quite effective and usable with non maxed gear.
    • I've included substitutions, where appropriate, for my recommendations. I tried to ensure you can use kit thats easier to obtain than my primary recommendations. you may lose a little utility but substitutions are perfectly valid
    • you can reliably swap out individual pieces of the loadout for your preferences. secondary and melee weapons are very easy to swap for alternatives without losing utility or efficiency. the itzal archwing is not required but provides some quality of life gains compared to other archwings
    • each link includes additional detail and nuance thats not included below

    Loadout

    • see each linked build for additional details
    • ivara or loki
      • ivara is easier to use than loki as she has no fixed time for invisibility
      • if using loki, build for invisibility duration. see here for inspiration
    • sniper for 'scouting ahead' and clearing enemies at distance if needed
      • prefer lanka or vulkar (wraith)
        • they have the most flexible zoom levels
        • I use vulkar and will swap to the wraith varient when I get one
      • snipetron vandal or rubico prime are good alternatives but have less flexible zoom
    • pyrana
      • kills open world enemies fast and efficiently
      • can use akarius or similar 'nuke' secondary if preferred, just watch out for self-stagger and self-knockdown
      • this is a flex slot
    • innodem or another dagger
      • fast attack speeds
      • have limited range to avoid accidental kills during conservation
        • mainly for clearing enemies trying to kill conservation targets in cambion
      • this is a flex slot
    • oxylus (preferred) or heilos
      • oxylus better for general use
      • heilos only for codex scans
      • NO weapons
      • NO offensive mods
      • do not aggro conservation targets or enemies when stealth
    • itzal
      • raw speed
      • use Penumbra (ability 2) to go invis + swap to sniper or tranq rifle in air
      • this is a flex slot. itzal is more of a QoL buff than anything

    Playstyle for conservation

    • use lures for targeted searches, archwing for general searches
      • when exiting archwing: watch out for 'slams' killing conservation targets, fly to ground then leave archwing mode for a 'soft slam' that wont kill the target
    • go invis
    • use tranq rifle to subdue target
      • some can be subdued with sleep arrows
    • call in for retreival

    Playstyle for general farming

    • note: sleep arrows can help with managing 'mobs' that sometimes form in open worlds
    • archwing to farming location
    • go invis
    • farm
      • use sunpoint drill with silence upgrade for mining
      • use oxylus to highlight fish instead of luminous dye
      • see above for conservation
      • you can fish and mine from dashwires: use this to your advantage for getting to hard to reach mineral veins and over water so you can fish any spot

    Cambion Drift Loop

    • reddit map thats useful
    • go around outer edge of map in clockwise direction
      • can go on foot with prowl active
    • open cysts as you see them
    • pickup any residue (fass/vome) as you see them
    • mine at far east and west caves (center of north/south)
    • fish if you see any as you work through your loop
      • put out bait if you want to fish a hotspot for a bit
      • move on after 1 bait expires
    • this loop will yield a large number of tokens for daughter (fishing), otak (mining), son (conservation), and father (cyst resources & residue)
      • youll need to run bounties for mother tokens
    • convert various resources to tokens
    • convert tokens to grandmother tokens
    • turn in only grandmother tokens for syndicate rank
      • grandmother tokens are significantly higher syndicate rank rewards than any other token
      • this setup is meant to ensure grandmother tokens flow fast enough to be worth the effort

  • On Call: Ideal Crew for Tenno Support

So, a friend of mine and I just went two for two on frustrating experiences:

SP Interception is just frustrating for the two of us. We struggle to clear all the gits from the capture points between their high health and constantly streaming in. In general we can each take and hold a point then potentially hold a third long enough to gain the lead. However, the Acolyte then spawns in and annoys us long enough to lose the lead, mostly through trolling with their abilities.

I have a Kuva Lich and my friend has a Sister of Parvos as our On Call Crewmen but neither of us have put any work into optimizing them, they're both just more-or-less the first thing we spared rather than killed. I also summon Kahl and his support units while my friend calls Ancient Healers (they prefer a different Air Support).

I know my Lich isn't optimal, it uses one of the less impressive Kuva variant guns, the Quartakk, and only has one power that's noticeably helpful: their version of Hollowed Ground. Their SoP Crewman is similarly unimpressive but I don't recall the specifics. Both of us need better help. So, what should we be looking for in terms of the best support for SP missions?

I've been farming focus, simaris standing and kuva weapons lately and dug into suggestions online to see if I could improve my efficiency. The meta seems to say Equinox is 'the best' frame for these farms at Adaro, Sedna. From what I can tell, its her ability to put enemies to sleep for stealth purposes along with good mobility while also being effective with 0 forma builds that puts her as 'best' in the meta.

Adaro is definitely an improvement over other nodes for balancing speed, difficulty and tedium based on my experiences but I'm definitely not fond of Equinox for these farms.

The trouble is I really dont like the amount of thinking (for me) involved with Equinox when it comes to farming. She's a great frame who I'll eventually setup for more general use but for farming, esp when on switch/mobile, she requires a lot more thinking and tactics than I'd prefer.

Equinox requires enough thinking (for me) that I started looking for other ideas. Particularly Ivara and Loki given they both are designed with stealth in mind and take a lot of the thinking out of anything stealth related.

Ivara is a pretty straight forward build but the prowl movement nerf is enough of an annoyance I'd recommend Loki unless you need corrosive toxin kuva weapons. If you are also farming corrosive toxin kuva weapons, Ivara is a great choice. Re-use any stealth build and the sleep arrow from Quiver and youre good to go. Maybe add a couple archon shards to improve her parkour speed and roll around for faster movement.

Loki, on the other hand, ends up being easier to build compared to Ivara (0 forma) and easier to use for farming (refresh invis when the timer run out, use lull as you go). Very straight forward to play. I've also been chasing radiation kuva weapons which is another reason for me to use Loki instead of Ivara.

My Loki farming build, linked below, has proven the easiest to use when farming on the couch (switch/steam link), outside enjoying the sun (mobile/steam link) or late at night before bed (any platform). Exactly what I wanted. Even if not 'meta', this build very much worth considering. The link has a full description and details on the build + loadout.

  • Weekly Warframe: Nidus

A virulent plague, a mutated warrior, the "I just wanna stay here and grow my infested garden" frame - Nidus!

    Release date: 2016-12-22

Passive: The Infestation dwelling within Nidus mutates rapidly when used against his foes, fueling his abilities and yielding various symbiotic benefits. Virulence - Rupture the ground with a damaging fungal growth that steals energy from each enemy it strikes. For every five enemies hit, the Infestation mutates, multiplying its destructive force. Larva - Spawn an Infested pod that erupts with tendrils, latches onto nearby enemies and pulls them in. Parasitic Link - Bind to a target with a parasitic link. For allies, both the host and Nidus gain increased Ability Strength. Linked enemies take the damage inflicted on Nidus. Ravenous - Gluttonous maggots swarm nearby enemies, feasting until they burst with Infestation. The maggots benefit from Mutation and each enemy consumed adds to the Mutation stack.

Acquisition: Main blueprint is acquired from The Glast Gambit quest. Component blueprints are acquired from Rotation C of Infested Salvage on Oestrus, Eris.

Community question: With the release of Dante, it got me thinking about using these weekly threads as a way to discuss newly released frames, not just old ones. Whenever a new frame releases, they would get the next upcoming thread, after which the queue would resume. Thoughts? I was also thinking about possibly re-making a thread if a frame receives a substantial enough rework, so far I got lucky with both Hydroid's and Inaros' reworks being timed perfectly with their queue spots, but that won't always be the case.

  • Personal Achievement: All the Bobbles

Just finished the Steel Path and got all the Bobbles! !

Arranged them as an homage to the pre-Orbiter mission select screen. The Deimos bobble isn't clearly visible but it's there between Mars and Phobos. The Zariman Bobble is unfortunately out of frame on my Pedestal Prime.

  • Any tips for grinding out wisp prime

First off wanted to thank everyone who chimed in on my last post I feel like I'm no longer stumbling around in the dark.

But I've started to grind towards wisp prime while progressing my start chart using this wiki to see what relics I need and where to get them, but I've been having bad luck

I got one of my friends to help me earlier during a void fissure mission but still no luck opening getting the blueprints

I'm sitting on a radiant relic that has the blueprint for wisp but I'm holding off on opening it in case there's something I can do to further increase my shot on getting the gold tier wisp blueprint

  • As a new player how do I determine what grinds are worth going for?

I'm fairly new to Warframe, only MR 6 with a few weapons maxed (and sold) and just now making Rhino as my first new frame. I have been working through the star chart and completing quests as I got them.

In my adventures I have encountered some opportunities to grind for certain things. Reputations with the syndicates, rewards from Fortuna or the the happy family in Deimos, or that frame you can buy from Duviri wyrm kills etcetera. But how do I know what is worth going for?

I don't necessarily want to rush to end game ASAP, but I also don't want to spend time grinding for something that I would very quickly replace anyway

  • The New Kubrow fur looks better on the Genetic Imprint screen than in the Orbiter

It's kinda funny and endearing at the same time, all my graphical settings are maxed out by the way

  • Onos thoughts?

The entrati armcannon doesn't really seem to live up to its hype - the normal fire is just slow rifle-like fire with no aoe or punch through and the incarnon mode seems to be a big short lived beam with low damage, short range and width, and can only fire a few times before running out of charge.

Am I missing something, like how to build it, or is it really underwhelming?
