Is anyone else highly concerned with the SCOTUS ruling that the POTUS is immune from criminal liability?
  • Lol, not a boomer.

All I hear is I can’t vote for this asshole because Israel. Or, I’m not doing this (Trump and Biden) again.

And games are everyone these days. From boomers to high schoolers. Granted, I think the number of boomers is likely less than all the rest. I’m sure Steam is doing a hefty sales level from GenX on down.

And there absolutely is a time warp of avoidance in general. Even the media has less energy for the election crap of late.

Oh, bonus, sentencing for trump is being delayed until after the election.

  • Is anyone else highly concerned with the SCOTUS ruling that the POTUS is immune from criminal liability?
  • It’s one more piece of Project 2025.

Trump is the side-show. Stop getting distracted by his fat orange ass. The disorganized, played more golf and gave more bad speeches than any President before him is just a side show. Most of the executive branch jobs that go with the administration each election were left empty in 2016.

Project 2025 is an organized, focused Trump term where the machinery runs for him. Where the mechanics of what to do have been thought out and planned for since 2020. Where he can sit on a gold toilet and truly let other people handle the day to day.

And just sign it all with presidential immunity.

So unless cardiovascular disease does it’s fucking job in the next 4 months (yeah, that’s right, the self imposed I don’t want to deal with it time warp you’re in let you forget that it’s just 4 months away), and bad COVID comes back and hits the SCOTUS hard, it’ll be SCOTUS 2.0 for the entire executive branch of the government come 2025. And like a SCOTUS vote, that 2:1 vote in our entire government will be in favor of authoritarian Christian nationalism. That’s what the the SCOTUS vote on immunity is. It’s not about Trump. It’s about authoritarianism going forward.

High odds on Project 2025 because I know you fuckers under 40 won’t be voting in the numbers boomers or GenX do. You’ll stock up on the steam summer sale, maybe get a Costco crate of cool ranch, tuck in, and try to pretend it’s not happening instead.

Yea, it sucks, but the vote is basically Kamala or Trump. No or yes on Project 2025. And if project 2025 goes in, America really is dead and shit is going to get violent.

Not sure another play through of Mass Effect Legendary or BG3 is going to be able to block that out this time.

  • Project 2025 Architect Signals Bloodshed If Left Opposes Trump-Led 'Revolution'
  • Trump is just the side show to this. He’ll be playing golf and making terrible speeches while this architecture goes up around him. It’ll be SCOTUS 2.0 on a larger, more inclusive scale.

Instead of the meandering disorganized crap of 2016-2020, with most executive office jobs left unfilled, it’ll be project 2025.

The choice here rests with the under 40 crowd. Vote for or against it.

  • Supreme Court kicks cases about tech companies’ First Amendment rights back to lower courts − but appears poised to block states from hampering online content moderation
  • They’re geared up for the authoritarian state. Corporate rule. Gutted EPA, FDA, etc. No privacy. Moderated online content. Increase the “domestic supply of infants” (read: work and military forces) by making women more brood mare like (see: Roes fall). And now a president is more like a king and can do anything. All of it points in one general direction.

  • My disdain for mega banks knowns no end
  • It’s not about giving away money. It’s about an entity that grossly mishandled money on a large scale having the audacity to give advice to others on handling money.

Worse, they’re giving micromanagement level advice regarding the money involved with a cup of coffee.

  • Taxing Very High-Value Home Sales Is an Equitable and Effective Strategy to Raise Revenue and Fund Affordable Housing
  • The issue here is it’s hitting the tier of people who are just able to get in on a house purchase. Only to have that price raised on them after purchase, through taxes. Especially irksome when it’s known they’ve overpaid just to get a place to land. Will the taxes go down if they sell for less? Probably not.

More squeeze on the little guy.

  • Trump trusted more than Biden on democracy among key swing-state voters
  • I’ve spoken to more than one midwesterner who is dismissive of Jan 6. “Not an insurrection”, “bunch of idiots”, etc. There’s a real disconnect on what Jan 6 actually is.

It’s also clear in those conversations that they don’t see it as Trumps fault.

As such, there will be no perception of Biden as a Democracy custodian. In order for that to happen, perception of Jan 6 would have to undergo a seismic shift 3yrs later.

  • Biden’s Record Is Full of Climate Wins — So Why Don’t Voters Know It? Environmental groups are making a concerted effort to educate voters about President Joe Biden’s climate policies before election
  • Because reading any news headlines is like drinking from a firehose of liquid shit.

Reading climate change news is like drinking from a firehose of liquid misery and hopelessness.

High odds people skip all that to go play games or read a book. Or even to go outside and enjoy it while it lasts.

Edit: Not endorsing it as cool, just stating basic human behavior.

  • Infant Mortality Rose 13 Percent in Texas After Abortion Ban, Study Finds
  • No, it’s military fodder. Poor people, After all make up most enlisted. Workforce fodder. And people with kids to focus on don’t have time or inclination to riot, protest, punch up, form unions, or go on strike. Children will always be the bigger concern.

That it intersects with the evangelical vote is happy coincidence.

  • Infant Mortality Rose 13 Percent in Texas After Abortion Ban, Study Finds
  • What most of these ignorant politicos and evangelicals don’t get about late term abortions is it’s stillbirth removal.

And, abortion is a medical procedure where the nomenclature doesn’t care about context. The medical chart says abortion for chosen termination, expedited miscarriage (to avoid bleeding out & pain), stillbirth removal, etc. I do not know if that nomenclature holds for “pruning” implanted fetuses in the IVF process.

Tangentially, enough politicians and Barrett herself have groused about “domestic supply of infants”, birth rates, and such that IVF will never suffer the same fate as abortion access, no matter what evangelicals feel on the topic. How the evangelicals feel was never the primary point.

Did the study mention how much mother mortality AND overall hospital stays for both mother and child increased as a result?
