  • You mean since they annexed Tibet and sent the population to re-education camps? Well, aside from threatening to bomb Taiwan every other week and skirmishing with India, China is currently fighting with the Philippines (when they’re not busy kidnapping kids from Hong Kong). Their military is growing and so is their destabilizing influence. Even Japan has begun re-arming.

  • It’s disgusting how much normies hate drugs, and how little they give a shit about mental health. If Matthew Perry were alive, he’d be the first to condemn a government that won’t let people imbibe whatever the fuck they want.

It was his right to kill himself. Fuck everyone who thinks otherwise, you despicable hypocritical monsters. Wanna help people like him? Legalize drugs. Provide mental health support and stop this ridiculous fanatical opprobrium against drug use. But anyone who supports these kinds of kangaroo court proceedings to imprison people who do and sell drugs certainly doesn’t care about human health or flourishing.

Seriously, one of the easiest ways to identify people who are philosophically and ethically illiterate is to ask them if drugs should be illegal.

  • AI is a digital set of instructions that can be written on paper. Biological brains are analog, by contrast, and there is currently no reason to think that digital computation can produce subjectivity.

    That’s good and bad.

It’s good, because our approach to artificial intelligence (putting a lot of processing power into a Rube Goldberg machine) cannot “come alive.” Such a machine is like a calculator, unmotivated and inert.

That’s bad, because it will ALWAYS do what people tell it to do, the way a printer will print whatever you tell it to print. Such an intelligence will never develop normative understanding (or morality), never know that it is alive, because it is an inanimate process.
