There is definitely a lower quantity of posts and many of those posts don't get tons of comments, but the posts and the comments they do get are of a much higher quality.
Lemmy doesn't follow mastodon, as far as I know. I like it that way. I was not a fan of mastodon. I made accounts on kbin, Lemmy, and mastodon during the blackout, and Lemmy is the only one I'm still using. I heard of a similar-to-mastodon place called Squabbles, which is NOT part of the fediverse, and I love it there.
I'm guessing it's because it's a week after 3rd party apps shut down. A lot will change when that happens, and the 7th is far enough from the 30th to feel it.
I actually might remember mine, because o joined here on the first day of the blackout. June 12th. Quit Reddit after 16 years on the 11th, so it's kinda memorable for me. And the 12th of a different month is my birthday, so that helps.
I don't know how old you are, but I grew up before the smoking ban. It was pretty common, and I had several relatives who smoked, but neither of my parents did. Smells bad and makes it hard to breathe, so I've always hated it.
Or you're like me, and you panic, thinking you somehow slept through the night and it's 8:37 AM, so you sprint around in an adrenaline-fueled frenzy, trying to get ready because you're already super late for work, and why didn't anyone call/wake you up?!?! And then you realize it's dusk outside, and everybody else is home, and you feel stupid.
And that, my friends, is why I use a 24 hour clock now.
I thought I read that the pilot/CEO kept back up controllers on the craft, in case something went wrong with the first. But that still seems janky to me, lol. Wired would make me a lot more comfortable. But, it's a moot point anyway, since the controller wasn't the cause of the failure. The carbon fiber is what fucked them.
I haven't been on Reddit since June 11th at 9:30pm central time. That's when the first of my subbed reddits went dark. I deleted rif, and haven't been back. I've just been wasting time here, instead!
