It sucks because Sh.itjustworks is generally a pretty good place, people trying some good things like the Agora. Then I take a look a few minutes later and it's like the Donald Glover pizza meme all over again.
This is off topic, but I love that I'm already finding links to concepts I didn't know about. It's a good sign that using the fediverse as an alternative to Reddit will actually work!
I've got complicated feelings about 6, it's one of my favorite RPGs ever, and since it's always seemingly in the shadow of FF7 in some ways a full 3D version would give it the attention it deserves.
However it's absolutely not a story that needs a "remake". Everything from the character designs (kefka is brilliant) to the scenes cough opera cough and subplots are near perfect, they would just benefit from getting a full glow up. (I do love ATB but using the recent battle systems from Remake would likely be very fun... I can just imagine fighting Atma Weapon would be awesome)
Do I trust current square to do this though? Nope. Not at all.
It's a difficult thing to measure, since it won't necessarily be a leap from just one platform to another.
I saw a meme on Tumblr about redditors remembering they had "dual Tumblr citizenship" all along. A lot of people are exploring a bunch of different options simultaneously (me included) and that's pretty great.
Not on Kbin (hi from sh.itjustworks) but I love to see it popping off. I just hope they're ready because if it's like this now, after the 30th is gonna be nuts
It really does feel like a shift. Of course it doesn't have to be anything near as big as Reddit and that's alright. This can be its own thing, which I'm pretty happy to be a part of.
Definitely know what you mean on the old school vibes though, I wonder if part of it is because "reddiquite" feels so unnecessary here, you don't have to post in fear of a slew of downvotes.
The hit piece Nilay did on Elon was fucking savage and one of the best things I've ever read on that site
