Xfce is pretty polished; however, you need to theme it to look good. On the other hand, even some themes from the 2000s should just work, so there's that. Either way, Cinnamon looks quite good, so if you're happy with it, good for you!

Finally! With WebKit (Safari), Blink (Chromium), Gecko (Firefox), Servo, and Ladybird, it may give Google less control over us.

First, try LibreOffice instead of OpenOffice; it is a highly maintained fork of the latter, with plenty of improvements. Another thing is, even if there are GUIs for everything, do not be afraid of using the terminal! As another commenter noted, it can even be easier. As for passwords, it is like that for security purposes; if you disable it, you'll be at a higher risk of breaking something.

DO NOT open a file you don't want to use, of a given Office application, then open the file you want to use, and close the first window, because then you may accidentally be able to use Office without having a license!!! This is BAD, it should NOT be done!!

Every single person has different problems and priorities, and until hyper specific use cases/workflows work on Wayland, many will stay on Xorg.

I 99% agree with you, but it depends. For Wayland, Xfce or LXQt (both with labwc as the WM) should also be great.

If you are not considering streamlined support or inital ease of use, Void Linux does its job very well. It has 3 DE editions on the live ISOs: GNOME, KDE, and Xfce.

As for the KDE tools, you can use them in any DE; GNOME specifically will clash with the KDE look, but I don't see how that would be a problem with Cinnamon, Xfce, or LXQt. Do note that, at least on my laptop, KDE is very slow (it makes Windows 10 feel instant, in comparison); haven't had trouble with Xfce.
