Mechanics and homebrew rules for action-focused heist games

  • Leverage is long out of print. I was going to try to PM you with some suggestions but uh either Lemmy or Jerboa just doesn't have that feature or I'm missing it? Either way, if you search "leverage RPG PDF" you can find copies. I normally would not condone piracy for RPGs because it's a small community and writers need our support but the game has been out of print for a while now and sometimes you gotta be pragmatic. If this violates posting rules, I'll remove.

  • Totally agree. Balanced combat is fun so is swingy and unpredictable. The problem with D&D 5e is it bills itself as the former but then coldcocks you and does a heel turn revealing it's the latter.

  • Broken Compass came into my life recently and it's a shame how CMOM fucked up the release, but the game itself is great. Dice mechanics are basically looking for n-of-a-kind where n is between 2 and 5, which is neat because you can use literally any six sided dice that have unique sides. My friend is running some old CoC modules using it and it's been fun so far.
