  • You could always hire a lawyer of your own and sue the company directly. That's what someone did to have it become a class action lawsuit. The person who brought the original suit gets a big payout, and the people who did not generally get a much smaller piece of the pie.

  • Yes, you're just using the wrong term. Entropy isn't chaos, it's a measure of how much energy has been lost to irreversible processes such that the energy can no longer be used to do work. You can't undo pulling the tree branch into its component pieces, the process is irreversible.

  • Aldi in North America is owned by a different parent company than Trader Joes. Both parent companies are named Aldi. The context of the original question was essentially asking "Aren't Aldi (US) and Trader Joes owned by the same company?" to which Mr Worldly Wiseman responded with a correct no. No further specification needed because you can simply look to the broader context the question was asked in.

  • Really? Because a tree losing a limb or having all its needles fall off would definitely be considered an irreversible process and absolutely an increase in entropy in a thermodynamic system

  • I guess? Mutually assured destruction is a form of brinkmanship that I'm not sure if I'm comfortable attempting. I won't judge you for how you choose to defend yourself against this administration but I will say that guns rarely deescalate a situation. I truly hope that ICE or the FBI or whoever actually do back down from more violent actions if they fear for their lives, but I feel like it's more likely that they will simply engage in greater shows of force. Maybe that will wake more people up to what they're doing.

  • Small correction, it's every fourth year except every hundreth year except every 400th year. I'm assuming the misconception comes from the last time it was a 100th also being a 1000th (2000) but the next time a leap year will end in 00 is 2400

  • There's nothing stopping them from firing you, but a one time offense will not get the government to deny you you unemployment, assuming you appeal any denial. Especially if the only other ammo they have is from five years ago.

  • Extremely doubtful that this would rise to a firing that was justified enough that would preclude the employees seeking unemployment. They would really want to have a longer paper trail than "CEO sent a slack message and then a meeting a week later." Not saying that this was an illegal firing. This was just power tripping.

  • I don't blame those who didn't vote for Kamala for her stance on Israel, I get it. I'm just tired of people who didn't vote specifically against Trump then act really surprised that the Democrats are putting up an anemic defense of our rights, because in theory they should have expected it, given how they voted. Asking why Democrats aren't stopping fascism when you ostensibly did not support them because you felt they would not do enough to stop fascism should be readily apparent.

I am not using "you" here as in you, piefood, just as a general you

  • I mean, "neatly lost" here is a disingenuous phrase for "won". The 2020 election wasn't even particularly close either, in terms of the Electoral College, which is unfortunately the only part that really.

I agree with you otherwise, so sorry for the pedantry. Dems should have definitely learned from the midterms, and they should have learned Biden was too old for a second term even before he announced he'd run again.

I'd say I hope they learn from 2024 but I doubt it.

  • I don't know if you have Kroger near you (or one of their subsidiaries) but the Carbmaster brand they sell is good, and only comes out to 3 grams of carbs per 240ml (8oz glass), which is half of what fairlife has. I started buying it when I got diagnosed diabetic. I don't eat much cereal anymore but when I do, the milk still tastes good.

  • God bless ya, I tried drinking unsweetened almond milk after I got diagnosed diabetic and I thought my taste buds stopped working because it tasted like nothing. Not in the way that water "tastes like nothing," but like, in a way where the only stimulus I got was mouthfeel. It was weird.
