  • That building at 7500 S South Shore Drive actually has architectural significance. Built in 1950, all the corner windows wrap around framelessly, allowing nearly unobstructed views of Lake Michigan across the street; one of the first buildings in the nation to implement such window framing. Unfortunately, in 2011 Mayor Daley allowed a school to be built on park land across the street, which blocked the view of Lake Michigan from east-facing windows. I believe losing the lake view is what caused the building to lose prime renters and spiral into subprime building condition it was in at the time of the raid.

  • Not that they weren't used first, but rocks and clubs would not have allowed us to come down from the trees safely full-time. Pointy sticks allowed us to more safely injure and kill, while keeping claws and teeth at a distance.

  • Optical illusions are specifically designed to fool the eye. The foolery is useful to keep us from having to cognitively recalculate what we're visually used to seeing. Optical illusions aren't a human flaw; they're an overall benefit.

  • Incinerator toilets like the Incinolet don't need septic or water. They can also be used to burn small trash. But there are downsides:

    • Incinolet toilet: $3000
    • Per flush: 2000 watts (120v), 3500 watts (240v)
    • Incinerates at 1400°F
    • Cheapest liners: 7¢ each flush. 18" sheets of wax paper would be cheaper. 7¢ liners might be too small for explosive diarrhea splatter.
    • Incineration cycles can be interrupted and restarted.
    • Need a 5" vent hole pipe.
  • Both Hillary and Kamala were unenthusiastic campaigners, depending on democrats to anoint to victory. AOC isn't very popular outside of the northeast, and she doesn't appear fiery enough to excite those who don't know her.
