  • Great article, but a very painful one to read. Mina the Hollower was one of my most anticipated games this year, and it sucked that it got delayed the same month it was supposed to release in.

What was once considered a less ambitious side project is now the company’s largest game ever. “We basically had to redo everything,” D’Angelo says. If they’d all stuck together from the beginning, Gordon says, “we would’ve finished it two to three years ago.”

So it sounds like the game got delayed because they were split into two teams. One was working on a 3D Shovel Knight sequel, and one was working on Mina the Hollower. The person directing the latter was struggling and slowed down the project, so they fired a bunch of people, focused on Mina, and basically restarted its development.

The good news is that if things go to plan, they said they'll revisit the 3D Shovel Knight game. I'm really looking forward to that.

  • Also, sneak peek for the worlds menu. I'm a big fan of the fact that each world has an image, one of my pet peeves from Minecraft was how you couldn't really tell worlds apart when browsing the menu.

  • This is the most sane take I've seen. It's honestly weird how ignorant this thread is, regional censorship is not new. Australia has a habit of banning violent games. The Middle East and China have a habit of censoring all sorts of things. Many countries have their own laws of what is and isn't okay and they fluctuate all the time. My friend in Germany couldn't play Wolfenstein because any games with Nazi imagery were illegal until relatively recently.

Literally every company that operates in those countries also censor their stuff. The only reason this article exists is because [thing but Russia] gets more clicks and outrage compared to [thing in fifty other countries]. You're free to hate Steam for it but this isn't weird or exclusive behavior. They're running a business.

  • Q: Do you want to do a mix of smaller updates like Lifeblood , or are you thinking bigger stuff like Godmaster and Grimm Troupe ? Is there a cadence you have in mind?

Gibson: In simple terms yes, we’d be thinking about different things arriving at different scales. That might mean larger things like Godmaster. Certainly, we’ve noticed that people would like an expansion in that way, being able to enter pantheon spaces and refight bosses. And there is already a huge number of them.

So this basically confirms that they're looking to make a Godmaster update for Silksong which is neat. I wonder if that's what they're working on now or whether it's going to be further down the road.

  • This stick doesn't look that bad, if it's still working well you can probably scrape that plastic on the side and put a stick cap on top. Otherwise, I'd recommend going for hall-effect sticks if you're looking to replace it. They're higher quality and last longer than normal sticks.

As an aside, your Switch would REALLY benefit from being cleaned with some compressed air, that D-pad looks rough. All that gunk will get stuck at the bottom eventually which would make it feel very sticky. Same for all that dust under your stick.
