Paywalled, here is an archive link
I wouldn't backup the volumes directly. Better to use the mount points as you suggest then back up those mounted directories. If it's a database that usually needs to have its records exported into a backup friendly format. Typically I will do a db dump from a cron job in the host system to summon a script inside a container which writes to a mounted dir which is the thing that I back up.
Jottacloud is pretty good. They have a Linux CLI too
What was the episode number where it turned out Dennis had a massive Wang?
Oh wow. I am suddenly less excited about our Wayland future.
Yeah that seems about right. Bunch of things that I wish were better but I am not going back. When I absolutely must there's a VM for that.
As someone who missed out on BBS I find this genuinely tempting
It was completely broken at launch. Not like funny jank, like crash to desktop and wait for the devs to finish the unfinished game.
But in the year where no mans sky released I can understand if its hard to recall mafia3
I got half way through AH1 and just couldn't anymore. Combat was just insufferable and the dialogue was a slog too.
Looks cool. After the shitshow that was mafia3 I'll be waiting to see if they actually finish the game before selling it this time around.
This is a cool idea. We're not super happy with slack at work but I admit we haven't given matrix a proper go yet. Wish we could stop for like a year just to evaluate the stack and the toolset. I kid. Sort of.
Glad to see theyknew content getting more popular on lemmy
Saw this a while back - good fun, and a clever way to frame a history lesson.

Yeah I think I am doing the Stockholm syndrome thing too. But as the futo keyboard chap said: is the software you use serving your needs or the needs of the creators?
Some things are indeed more difficult. But if it's a simple Python script even I can make a PR to help out. And the feeling of using software that isn't designed to send my data back to a megacorp is fucking awesome. So I'm in, I think?
So like "mother in law" and "woman Hitler"?
I switched to Linux (not arch btw) around the same time as joining Lemmy. And I've still not seen any trek apart from a couple of the movies, which I quite liked. We're contemplating starting at the very start
Probably ComicTagger https://github.com/comictagger/comictagger
I had been holding onto ComicRack for years and really loved it for scraping and generating tags before adding to Komga. I was a happy camper when i found ComicTagger.
Curious what folks are using to organise their remote connections? I liked WinSSHTerm and have tried replacing it with Remote Desktop Manager, but it seems a bit broken (fonts look terrible in a terminal, sftp doesn't work, RDP sort of works, but it's not great).
RDP is not a must. Folders, ssh, key auth, sftp and scp are the main things I'm looking for. Currently considering Remmina but though I would check if ppl have strong views on this topic before trying the next app.
I'm using cinnamon with mint 22.
I've been keeping an eye on the github and the board and it doesn't seem to be moving that much. We're nearly halfway through 2025 and I thought the plan was for Wayland to be supported on cinnamon early 2026.
Wondered if anyone had any more insight into progress/blockers/delays
I just opened a pack of chicken breast, seasoned with salt and pepper, put water a stock cube and a chunk of ginger in the instant pot, put the chicken on the rack, and pressure cooked for 25 mins. When done I removed most of the liquid and shredded the chicken right in the pot with a blunt mixer. About as much effort as making a sandwich and now I have frozen portions of shredded chicken ready to add to soup/salad/sandwiches.
‘Jose Chung's From Outer Space‘ is not just a highlight from the sci-fi series, but a perfect follow-up to the Barry Sonnenfeld film.

We're going through this show again, for the first time for us since it was aired. And this episode (Jose Chung's 'From Outer Space') was a real stand out. Haven't laughed this hard in a long time.
