Sample part 1 of 3. A complex scent this morning. The soap made a nice, slick lather.

    Have a nice day!

  • Not yet. I was eyeballing the Lo Storto Gentle last night. :) I like the heavier Piccolo handle, but it's pretty thin. I am thinking of getting the wider, lighter handle with the closed comb Gentle.

Sample part 2 of 3. I really like this scent. The base performed fine. I'd put it between Noble Otter and Chiseled Face.

I'm gaining skill with Lo Storto. I think closed combs let me be more angle-lazy, or rather, the bar is pushing the skin down and the blade gets a slightly different angle. With this open comb, I'm doing better with leaning further back on the cap but not quite "riding the cap."

    Have a great day!

Sample part 1 of 3. Another slick and thick lather from Chiseled Face. This soap took little water to lather up. The scent is pleasant but mild. I'm thinking for Midnight Stag to exist in this universe, Guy Noir balances the scales.

    Have a great Sunday!

This smush was gifted to me by u/impressive_donut114 on the promise that I would use it on a certain day of Lather Games. I totally failed him after losing it in my sample drawer and totally sucking at Lather Games. But, I used it today. It's a very nice base that made slick and thick lather. The scent is complex and unique to my nose. It really opened up on pass 2 and is great for a Saturday Morning.

    Have a nice day!

This is a very nice base with a wonderful scent. Well done Summer Break Soaps. The lather built quickly. The smush made plenty of lather. It was a comfortable shave and the alum block gave me an A.

Thanks to u/onionmiasma and u/ktturtlesue for putting this event together!

  • In preparing for Tabactober, I have some questions. I've got the new formula soap and a tiny (50ml) squeeze tube of balm. I've found a shop that seems to have stock of the Tabac line. I'd like to have the trifecta and I'm a aftershave-and-balm type of guy. I don't want to knock down my coworkers with this scent but I'd like to spend these days with the scent. The questions:

    • Aftershave - this is the splash on your face format?
    • EdC - this is the stronger, dab a few places format?
    • EdT - this is the weaker, spray on?
    • Aftershave+balm and EdC or EdT - do you think this would be an offensive level of Tabac?

    Thanks in advance!

  • I have samples from Maggard's. They didn't specify on the order page, but the sticker matches the non-silk tallow soap, so I think that's what I have.

Sample part 1 of 3. Wow, I really like this base. The scent is powdery barber shop goodness with a hint of Tabac?

Sample part 1 of 3. I had a nice shave this morning with Riserva Fresco. I haven't decided how to describe the scent. It's pleasant and fresh.

Yesterday's dog/lather bowl found it's final resting place and was replaced with a different pop-up bowl that the local Amazon Depot had in stock. It worked better. Next trip I'll bring an empty tub or get a small bowl.

    Have a wonderful Wednesday!

Sample part 2 of 3. It's the vegan formula. I love the scent though.

I'm just about to pitch this silicone dog/lather bowl in the trash. I think it would be okay if I was tub loading. I'm not going to be tub loading on travel. Now the Captain's Choice Traveler is on my mind ...

    Have a great day!

This is both a sample kill and tub kill. It came as a special surprise from Maggard's sample packers. Every once in a while, if you get their empty soap tubs, one of these angels will leave a chunk.

Anyway, yesterday @walden gave me a NO tip which led to a very nice lather today. This last knob of soap had been in my drawer for awhile and felt dried out. I mashed it into my shave bowl and put in some warm water to bloom/rehydrate. I started Precision Loading after a shower and ended up putting only a small amount of water. I had enough lather for three passes and a couple of passes to clean up my neckline on the back of my head.

    Have a great Saturday!

  • I'm sure it's me/my technique. I'll go with less water next time.

Sample kill. This soap has a tallow base but I find it's different than my favorite Stirling base. It seems more delicate and susceptible to foaming up. Precision Loading has been a solid technique for me, no matter the base. The scent is amazing.

    Have a great Friday!

This is sample part 1 of 3. This soap has a nice base. It lathered pretty quickly and went on slick. The scent is nice. First whiffs didn't reveal much but after it bloomed and lathered it presented and held true to its name.

    Have a great day!

    Roamer, wanderer, nomad, vagabond
    Call me what you will

This is sample part 3 of 3. B&M's Vegibus base. The scent is interesting. The first whiff from the sample container puts me in mind of peanut butter creme (e.g., Reese's Pieces) but it opens up as lather builds. It took longer to make it lather than yesterday's Tabac tallow. It went on slick but it didn't protect as well.

I swapped to the ol' trusty 37C as my mug needed a break from Lo Storto. I need to skill up before Lo Storto gets daily driver status.

    Have a great day!

  • I'm in either way.
