  • You can point to many consoles throughout history and ask "wHaTs tHe PoInT???" based on their launch titles.

Yeah, exactly. Some consoles had a killer app, like Super Mario 64. Or 3D graphics. Or the console doubled as a DVD player. Or it had some other sort of new tech.

I'm not really seeing what the killer app the Switch 2 has that makes it worth such a high price.

  • I think those films generally fall into the either the "don't know how to turn it into a movie" or "the fans will buy anything" camps.

Now, gaming movies are getting bigger budgets and such, and probably more involvement from the game companies.

EDIT: Also, the IPs now have way more fans than they did before. Thinking of SMB, at least

  • What's the point of the Switch 2? It seems like it'll only have a small handful of exclusives that'll cost maybe $1,000... that seems crazy expensive for like.4 games. I'm certain prices will go down eventually

  • English would also be unrecognizable in 1375. At a glance, it seems like it was Middle English, which means you'd probably get as much intelligibility with any other English speakers as a monolingual Dutch speaker would have with a monolingual English speaker today. Maybe a bit closer, but still.

Shakespeare was still hundreds of years away.

...Not that any of this would matter to anyone living in North America.

  • Its funny to me that men's spaces on the internet often is pretty chill, while the opposite for the other people

Depends. There are plenty of incel spaces all over the internet. There are also countless "boy clubs" (think certain online game communities) that are horribly toxic, especially to those who aren't male (or weren't born that way).

  • Though please be aware, generally when a link shows up on Facebook and gets formatted with a picture and a paragraph underneath it. This feature is controlled directly by the external sites integration with Facebook or social platform, and they can choose how much of the link is condensed or shown.

This is what seals the deal for me as the news companies being in the wrong here.

  • After an episode of The IT Crowd was criticised as transphobic, Linehan became involved in anti-transgender activism. He argues that transgender activism endangers women, and has likened the use of puberty blockers to Nazi eugenics. Linehan says his views have lost him work and ended his marriage

  • They didn't say "back", but yeah, I get what you mean.

Like, I remember hearing about these folks when I was in school in Texas.

They heard about them. This could've been because when they lived in Texas, Texans told them about the group. Or because they studied trends in anti-vax movements when they went to school in Texas.

I think the original point was that the reader has to make assumptions about what they meant, and my point was that even clarifying the age doesn't change that we're still making an assumption about when they were in Texas.
