  • What a bunch of greedy clowns. Not only that's illegal to do afaik, it's not even technically possible. Hell even if they could, that would accomplish absolutely nothing.

The only thing they could've try to pull was to ask spanish ISPs to block IPTV altogether, but then again, easily solved with a VPN. Stupid fight to pick if you ask me.

  • Tbh I'm pretty new to nixos, but I'm starting to believe if we had that the exact same config (at least without flakes, I'm still having trouble undertanding them) but with a slightly abstracted UI, it would be one of the most user-friendly distros out there.

Like just imagine being able to click "Add program", write the name of a program, having all the options appear below as dropdown menus or on/off switches, then click big blue button "Apply" to rebuild.

  • The worst web browser ever, period, is still embedded into the system to this day and the entire OS will collapse if you manage to delete. Just an example; without the bloat you literally wouldn't have any OS left (except, ironically, some unix components).

That said, I agree with you, no OS is great compared with windows lol

  • Untrue statement plus in some distros you don't need the terminal at all. Fear to the terminal is included in windows' inconsistent mess, as i said, to real first time users it's not that horrible to "talk to the pc so it does what you told it to do".

Also you don't get to decide if an experience i had felt mind boggling or not (?

  • No it is not by a long fucking shot. Our "socialist" party is NOT socialist, they're just "left" wing corrupted liberals. We basically only have [insert color]-wing corrupted liberals, anyone stating otherwise is just too deep in propaganda.

  • I'm spanish, never even thought about searching for pirate iptv streams (just used some official ones).

Just turned on some random free vpn and started to search for pirate iptv streams; 100% counterproductive ban lol.

Edit: also jellyfin can get iptv along with my super legal media collection. Again, why? If you ban something, ban the streams not the client...

  • I truly wouldn't recommend Linux for a fairly tech illiterate person like him

I would actually argue the opposite, linux is way more intuitive for new people who hasn't used a pc before or hasn't used windows long enough to fill their brain with their unconsistent mess. I've seen 3 variants of this already with people close to me ( last one of them encouraged by me). Kinda mind boggling.

  • Hey, thanks for coming back with the response! I wish there was more conversations in the "public" space.

As for the original post, if I've understood correctly, this is more a client problem than a matrix protocol one, right? The next important step would be to have an android client feature the jitsi VOIP calls.

  • Pretty sure it's both pointless and impossible to have an earth-like timezone system in an object that has coordinated rotation and translocation cycles. Meaning this mess we call "timezones" shouldn't exist in the moon.

  • Perfection. I'll add one more:

MacOS: "We had the original mouse and everyone else copied us so, in order to make you feel special and quirky, here have an exclusive inverted wheel mouse. Only 199'99. Your welcome."

  • This bot is saving me from having to open the "article", try to decipher SEO bullshit modern journalism just to find shitpost like this, eat some ads, and unavoidable (at least on mobile) trackers, js, etc. Also personally hate link posts, i wish people put this kind of summaries in the actual post.

Just ignore/block the bot and move on.

  • That's pretty much the only reasonable explanation at this point. If they were afraid of people finding errors it would be beneficial to allow more players to see what's the program doing. Riot basically confirming they just want to run spyware on SpywareOS.

  • Oh i agree on that, but matrix itself is open source, that's why i listed it too. The 3 options are good, but the more secure the more complicated.

Beeper is the easiest, with the con of closed-source client (the server is open source and they contribute a lot to the matrix ecosystem, thus my trust in them). This is what I'm currently recommening to most people as a lesser bad just because how easy it is to use.

Public matrix instances are good too, i personally use frei.chat, but most of them use unmodified matrix servers and there's a bunch of open source clients available. Bridges with other networks are configures through bots.

Then you can self-host your own server, but it can get messy and expensive. I usually prefer to self-host everything, but decided to pass on matrix for now.

  • Feels crazy no one has mentioned it yet, but Beeper finally got released a couple days ago. Check it up, I'd recommend you to use the "OLD" client tho, new one feels like a beta version.

It's just a preconfigured matrix server with (proprietary) clients and easy to use bridges, it allows you to use multiple messaging networks in one app, so you could use signal or matrix chats with most people and keep only essential exceptios like the instagram class group.

Really stupid easy to set up, and if you feel more concerned about privacy you can always search for a matrix homeserver with bridges or self-host your own (pretty complicated, wouldn't recommend too much).

  • Stimulants shouldn't affect memory directly but, at the same time, they kinda do. Take myself as an example, I have good long term memory but just like you I also forget things I just thought (or was told). That means the problem here is not retrieving information stored in my brain, but actually saving it in my head. What stimulants might do is improve focus, so you actually save the info in your brain before forgetting it. This doesn't necessarily work for everyone, but it's a common treatment for ADHD for a reason.
