  • I'm new to Lemmy/The Fediverse but I am a little confused on how to use this website. So when I go to that website I see links to a bunch of places. I personally created my account on lemmy.world, but all of the links on that website go to other websites that I'm not logged into and I can't use my lemmy.world login to sign into (can I?).

So to use the website, I have to go to a second tab to http://lemmy.world/communities# and then search to find the same websites that are on that page.

Am I getting that right, or is there a way to use links in the fediverse to open onto their equivalent on my host? Hope I'm asking this right but I'm very confused about how to handle things like external sites and links.

  • I attempted to promote this community on Reddit. Here is how it went
  • I think the best way to convince people to move is to use this sub for its intended purpose of discussing Obsidian MD and how to use it. Right now the top posts on this sub are about reddit and open source philosophy, so it's not immediately clear to people migrating that this is a great community for discussing Obsidian's utility.

  • Art supply question: Notebook with removable facing pages?

Hope this is the right place to ask this kind of question!

I don't know much about notebook making but I have used this kind of book in the past and am wondering what the term for it is. It's a threadbound book of pages where every other set of facing pages is one continuous sheet, so theoretically you could draw on every other set of facing pages in the notebook and then if you removed the thread it would just be a series of folded square drawings at the end.

I think the version I used was made by traveller but I would love to know if there are other brands like this- I draw on the subway but would like to have something in a square format that I could selectively store separately and maybe even frame when I'm done using the notebook.

  • Seconding Things 2- I migrated to Obsidian from Vimwiki and already used a similar notation for my bulleted lists. Things 2 Lets you make lists with custom icons that you can use to add bullet journal style meaning to short lists and it is very concise- plus when I open the files in a raw markdown editors the symbols and legend are still somewhat readable.
