  • Demonstrably bad at research and math, yes. So don't use them for that purpose. A lot of work is being put into this area though, so it might change in the future.

    Basic writing? That's such a broad task. As evaluated by what metric? One thing they're very good at is writing texts that sound like they're written by a human. If that's what you need, then they're great for the task. Especially so if you need a lot of it. I wouldn't say that the ability to write a thousand words per minute is a foundational skill for anyone.

  • My phones have all been around that price range (250-300 CAD) and none of them ever had problems besides the basic hardware wear and tear mentioned in the OP. I don't play games on my phone, but besides that, I think my usage is pretty typical.

  • On the bench press, you should have your shoulders retracted, your back arched, and elbows tucked in to some degree. Deviating from this form is a common cause of shoulder pain. So if that applies to you, try it out.

  • It isn't what most people are looking for in a nice evening out, though.

    That's the thing, isn't it? With the exception of maybe once or twice a month, I'm not looking for a nice evening out. I just need fuel, and I need it three times per day. That's over 95% of my meals. I'm pretty sure the majority of people are in the same boat.
